I mean, I don’t want Dell as OC personally. Just throwing stiff out there.

Dave Clawson is Wake Forrest’s HC.

Once bitten twice shy… we aren’t hiring another coach from the lower tier…. Wake Forrest Dave Clawson isn’t going to cut it…
Posted on 11/16/22 at 8:19 pm to Lee County Tiger
Clawson can’t even win the ACC.

Agreed. That would be incredibly underwhelming.

Dabos name is being tossed around now.

Josh Pate said two days ago that he was hearing names no one was talking about which would be huge and shock people. He didn't want to mention the names on air, but from what he said, it sounded a lot like Dabo or someone of that "stature."
Then today some guy from B-ham media (WJOX) said he is hearing "Dabo's people reached out to AU." And now the rumor has taken off from there.
While it is a "fun" rumor, there is absolutely zero reason for Dabo to leave a conference where he has a clear shot to the playoffs every year.

Both of his coordinators told us to pound sand 2 years ago, but now Dabo came to us?

The Dave Clawson BS is exactly that… BS.
We aren’t about to hire a 55 year old New Yorker whose lone stint in the SEC is 1 year as the OC for a terrible Tennessee team.

I find it hard to believe Elliot would tell AU to pound sand.

I don’t know what names Pate was “hearing” but I think coaches are seeing if you aren’t in the B1G or SEC your resources and opportunities to compete at the highest level is severely going to be limited.

Yes for sure, and I think conference realignment is on some of their minds. Maybe trying to get ahead of the changes and establish themselves somewhere else. It may not be a factor but just something I thought about today.

If Yabba Dabba is putting out feelers it would be for two reasons:
1. He wants a pay raise at Clemson (playing the game) or
2. What you mentioned:
There are some unknowns regarding the ACC and realignment.
Yabba Dabba might not be quite so dominant in the SEC.

Dabo may also realize that his time is wearing a little thin at Clemson. He’s been the head coach there for 13 years and that fan base is starting to grow a little weary of the guy.
He may be looking to get closer to his hometown and get a fresh start on life with a big buyout.

Shoot. His buyout right now is ~55M if he’s fired. He owes Clemson 6M if he leaves.
