Trying not to laugh to hard at this comment. It happens in most big school coaching searches.
Cohen and Rane aren’t sitting in a back room calculating how to make the public think they are going after Lane, while really they are pursing Dabo or whoever is the real target.
It’s pointless and a waste of time. Makes good for message board fodder but it is just pure fantasy.

I can't think of a single example of a "smokescreen."
Sometimes a candidate might get leaked to judge the public perception of hiring him in advance, and other times a candidate might be leaked by an agent to try to encourage a raise at his current school or a bidding war.. but a "smokescreen" implies the school searching for a coach leaks a fake candidate to take the attention off the real candidates while they work behind the scenes to get it done.
I can barely even conceive of why or when this would take place period, but I especially can't imagine why it would make sense with Kiffin in this scenario. "Smokescreen" talk is just typical meaningless message board fodder.

Sounds amazing. Nothing shows that a school is trying to become elite like hiring a dipshit who never finishes what he starts

I started off my career with Colorado State as OC (and I think I had the best offensive numbers in the game - we won the MW three times), and then Clemson somehow fired their OC so I had a shot.
We won a few natties and now i'm at AU as head coach. I'm recruiting really well right now, my class is absolutely stacked

i miss NCAA so much. i hope next year is just a copy of 2014 version with updated rosters and maybe some updated player customizations. don't change the gameplay or anything else pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease

I assume it will look like Madden does now.
I'm looking forward to some updated offensive playbooks.
Our poor PS3 is still kicking, just for that game. I need it to make it until next July or so when NCAA 2024 is released!
