Hartwell apparently resigned as AD at USU. Wants to get closer to the south. I wonder if he'll go after the MSU AD job?

I have supported every HC hire to a fault. I may legit quit AU football if Mark Stoops is hired.

He’d be like taking the cute chubby girl home at last call. Not the hot girl (Kiffin, Meyer, Sanders) you wanted, but better than the skanks (Steele, Lashlee, etc.) But it wouldn’t be anything to brag about.

I could care less who Cole Cubelic thinks we should hire. He’s the last person Auburn needs to take coaching advise from, he has shilled for Harsin this entire time.

One issue on Prime people keep looking past is his health. It worries me.

He's a diabetic and has had problems with it.
He had to have two toes amputated in 2021.

While unfortunate, I'm sure the medical staff employed by Auburn would be more than willing to help him manage that if he was working here.

He still has 8 toes, he can coach. We aren’t asking him to run routes.

I don't think there is a lack of recruiting. It's not "obvious", but people who know his background and competency understand. He's a freak from a process standpoint - that's part of the reason why the NFL jumped on him so quick.

Most people don't appreciate that he had zero ties or connections to the state of Texas and he took a job that was radioactive (literally an institutional sexual assault problem) and he managed to find players IMMEDIATELY and completely change the narrative about Baylor. He was extremely prudent and hired influential HS coaches who knew the lay of the land and put them to work. He's not a lazy recruiter either; he apparently took a helicopter when he first came there and flew all over the state.

Baylor isn't an elite recruiting school and he left for the NFL just as they were starting to get good, so who knows where he would have taken their recruiting moving forward. His ~2018 class was ranked higher than any of Dave Arranda's classes to date there.

Most importantly he has an extremely good eye for the right TYPE of player to target. This was one of the things they did freakishly well there at Baylor. And at Temple too.

And one other thing to point out: several of his original hand-developed assistants from freaking Temple have blossomed into elite recruiters at other P5 schools. The DL coach at A&M is his guy and he's one of the best recruiters in the SEC. The CB coach at Georgia is another one of his guys and he's only the primary recruiter on 5-star AJ Harris from Central HS. Where did those guys learn to recruit?

He recruited and coached in the crappy Big 12 and was 0-11 against Top 25 opponents over three years.

Yeah, let's be organized and never beat a major opponent. Sounds like just what Auburn fans are looking for.

Youre a big Prime guy, exactly what evidence do you have that he would beat a top 25 opponent in the next 3 seasons as AU’s HC?

I don't have any evidence.

But there is a key difference: one has never had the opportunity (yet) to face a Top 25 opponent at an equal (or near equal) level and the other is a proven and massive failure at the previous opportunities he has been afforded at this same task.

I don't think from a Coaching Standpoint, none of the coaches regularly mentioned have been as proven or in the SEC as Freeze. I'm waiting to see what an undermanned Liberty does against Arkansas this weekend.

But I'm not 100% against Prime (maybe 90 because his competition). I don't have any doubt in this world he would be a great recruiter but I just don't know much about his ability to manage a big program and coach at a high level where teams are better than his starting out. His league is almost like high school where the players matter more than coaching and all the conversations are just about his record (nevermind who he's playing) and how flashy he is.
No one knows how he will react in a situation when things get tough or when playing teams he's going to have to make adjustments, etc. There is a major difference stepping into the SEC and can't be ignored because they just like the sound of winning alot at Jackson State.

As far as Lane, he lost to the only competent team he's played and didn't do well against vandy or Auburn or A&M compared to the 3 being bad this year. He would be a last resort after half the country turned us down. He won but wasn't far from being a 3 or 4 loss season right now with Bama and a bowl game still on the table.
