His coaching acumen and hopeful recruiting like he did at Ole Miss is the only reason why he is in the conversation. It’s the off the field shite that’s why he isn’t already at an Oklahoma or Texas or wherever. It’s tantalizing. Someone just needs to hire him before we do so.

At one point some of you are going to realize that just paying somebody a lot of money is not going to win you a championship. You cannot buy success with coaching. I’ve said it 1000 times. Just look at all these Homerun hires the last five years. How many of them have worked out?

And I am not directing this at you but your statement just proves it

Not much tread left on the tires. Would question if he wants to grind it out in recruiting, as he chose to go to UCLA (like instead of Florida). Not sure if I'd approve of his staff connections for the SEC.

If it's my money, I'm probably signing up Freeze.
His production is as proven as anyone's.

Additionally, it's reassuring / unique that he badly wants to come to Auburn. You wouldn't have to break the bank, just a nice standard contract.

Also, he would never leave. Kiffin might leave for the NFL (but not for another college job).

He's a good coach. Anyone that argues otherwise has an ulterior motive.

He won't be in the running for this job though. He'll have to rehab under Saban first or take an ACC job or something before he coaches in the SEC.

Lane is our only hope before we get down to the Grimes and Lashlee's. I'm still holding out hope.

Ole Miss losing today is a good thing if you want Kiffin…. it’s a long shot anyway.

I’m not a Freeze guy because I’m not convinced about the coaching. Could care less about the off the field issues.

Willing to admit that them being up 41-14 on BYU in the 4th goes a long way toward erasing the doubts I have

Is money all that relevant? I (and many others) point to all the buy out money Auburn boosters pay out with no problem.

Is money not about guaranteeing performance, but making your
program look "big time."

LSU lost out on Lincoln Riley, and had been embarrassed by Ed Ogeron. $10 Mill for the perception of success.

T AM was sucking in the SEC and just built a new stadium.
Need the perception of being big time and successful.

Whatever it takes to cleanly get our target.

You think OM fans aren’t thinking it right GD now? Did they score any points in the second half maybe a FG? If Ashford wasn’t a walking turnover we would have beat his arse last week let that shite sink in dude.

Oh, I guess more people do think this. Lane is an excellent recruiter, seller of a program, and very proven on one side of the ball. On top of that, he is already moderately proven as a HC. I don’t think we could find someone better unless you start talking about Stoops or Urban Meyer type guys who are obviously unrealistic.

Believe me, Ole Miss fans are all very happy to have Lane Kiffin.

They still have AM, UA, Arky, and Miss St on the schedule they could easily drop all those. I bet they lose 3 out of 4

They could. I could also see them winning 3 of those 4 giving him another 10 win season. Or 2 and a bowl victory. That would be his 4th 10 win season in 6 years including back to back in the SEC.

They might lose 3 more but this is obviously a good coach for them. This is a bad game for Lane. No way around that.

I really think we should make Lane tell us no.
Worst case scenario, we get him a raise.

Today is a prime example of why Lane is overrated.

He is light years better than Harsin.

But still not a really good coach.
