Y’all really are a bunch of two faced talk out of your mouth fools.

This is the conversation on here…

I wanna win championships and compete for championships and so forth.

But we aren’t good enough we can’t hire good coaches. Our admin is shite. Our booster and PTB are shite.

We are surrounded by other good programs.

No good coach would want to come here blah blah blah.

End of the conversation.

My take good god folks. Grow up. Act like men. We are a top 15 team currently and have been recently. We have played for 2 national championships in the past 12 years. We have competed for 3 conference championships and won 2. Get the frick out of here with the woah is me bullshite. Every coach has won, played for, or had an undefeated season or championship since Dye came. That’s 50 plus years of success. Yes we’ve had some losing seasons but so has everyone else.

The hole dug by the coaching change and then Harsin era will be a tough one to come out of. It will take 2-3 years depending on how well we work the portal to get up to an Auburn standard. I have no doubts the next hire will be a better coach then what we have.

But this 15-20 years of darkness bullshite is old. The money is pouring in from fans to support NIL even with the shite product just wait until we are 10-2. So please for all that is good stop the we are gonna be 6-6 the next 15 years shite. That’s why we are dumping this farce of a staff as soon as possible.

Ok continue on with the my preferred coach is better then your preferred coach arguing.
Quite a rant you have there!

Need I remind you of TN before they hired Pruitt? The names being thrown around here, remind me of all the Gruden, and pie in the sky talk, at that time. Is TN a historically successful program?

If we can get someone like Matt Rhule, that would be the closest thing to a home run hire. We currently do not have an AD, our current coach just went thru a very public investigation into a sex scandal, and will be fired before his second year is up. We fired the guy who got us a national championship, and fired his successor who got us in the title game. You don't think any coach smart enough to spell his name, doesn't consider that?

Bowden went to UNA, then Akron and is currently at ULM, both of which are FBS Head Coaching jobs. Tubs went to Texas Tech, a P5 gig, and then left out a bathroom window at a restaurant to go to Cincy, considered to be the best of the G5 jobs. Granted, he shite the bed there.

Chizik became UNC's DC, then did TV for a couple years, and is now back at UNC. While not "high-profile" per-say, a P5 DC gig is not exactly a bad job.

Gus could've done nothing, but instead took the UCF job, which is one of the top G5 schools in the country, and next year will be a P5 school as well.

None of those jobs would meet most people's definition of "high profile". There are 131 FBS schools.

quote:

If last year proved nothing else besides this, it's that if you're willing to pay, you can get a "top flight" coach to jump ship, i.e. Riley, Mario, and Kelly.

Again, if you are worth big $$$ to one school, you are most likely worth that to another. Of those names you mentioned, do you think money was the top consideration when taking those jobs? Riley escaped playing in the SEC, and went to a talent-rich environment. Mario left Oregon to go to another talent-rich environment, compete in a one-horse conference, and basically went home. Kelly? LOL! LSU made a huge mistake in my opinion. He got that job based on being at, probably, the highest profile job in all of college football. It was a classic "splash" hire, and it's starting to look like the juice wasn't worth the squeeze.

All I'm saying is, money isn't the only factor. Especially, if they want to continue being a HC at an elite school.

If we have all the resources of our big rivals then we should be able to hire a decade plus coach where we compete for league championships and NC’s more often than not

The only teams that really do this are:
(1) Alabama
(2) Clemson
(3) Sort of Ohio State
(4) Georgia may be about to do this but too soon to tell

If you look at the last 20 years, the only teams that have had significantly better runs than us are Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State. Every coach other than Harsin has won national titles, played in them, or had undefeated seasons.

Let's not forget Dye came after Barfield.

Do you understand that coaches don't take any job anywhere thinking they will fail like the guy before him did. Arizona State isn't a power school competing for the PAC 12, but the next guy they hire believes he can do it, and he might. Auburn has shown in the very recent past we can compete at, and win at the highest level...while making the coach incredibly wealthly. They don't care about the things greygoose thinks they care about in posts on a fan message board.

The last 2 years is what zero booster involement looked like. Not good. They get involved they can get things done.

You talk about other jobs that are open that coaches would want before ours, which ones? Wisconsin is the only one close to us, and I see it that way without my Auburn glasses on

Keep those blinders on. I'm sure everything will be ok, I've got my fingers crossed!

We are much closer to TN after Fulmer, than we are to Alabama after Shula.

My point exactly. A program on it's deathbed, as greygoose wants to make Auburn to be, wouldn't pull that off would they?

Really, one could argue that both were in the same place at those points in time.

Or neither because we are in a unique situation.

Don't we have millions in NIL money that's been raised? Newer indoor facility? State of the art dining and nutrition for all student athletes? Confernce titles, National title(s) depending who you ask, Heismans, coach of the year awards, etc etc etc. Sounds like a program in pretty good shape, just need a good football coach with a recruiting staff. If you listed all we have, but didn't put Auburn on it, people like greygoose would say that program will get whomever they want as coach. We just need to sack up and do it
