Why not? They were pretty chummy when they were at UT at the same time.

With all of the bitching about the timing of the announcement and Steven getting the job, has anyone mentioned Michael Wilbon's comments yesterday?

When Michael Wilbon retires not a single person on the planet will give a shite. So, there's that.

PTI is one of the few watchable shows ESPN has left.

That being said I think his virtue signaling here is dumb. Hell, I don’t agree with Bruce politically either but it’s not like this has been something that’s been kept a secret.

I think Kiffin genuinely loves Bruce. They dealt with NCAA bullshite from Tennessee together (including after Bruce was fired and Lane was at USC), and I think Bruce supported him through the period of time he left Tennessee.

Noticed he is at Yahoo now. I guess his next stop is Nickelodeon. Seems to be spiraling backwards

I think its fair to say part of the reason he got this job was because of who his dad is and that he's already on staff... but you also have to be fair and admit Steven is one of the top assistant coaches in the country. If we just hired the top assistant from Duke or Florida that would probably be seen as a good hire.

Would our rivals hire him? We mentally approach recruiting the same way. If the answer is no then why are we different and have to do things differently. Lot of times when someone tries to peddle something as a unique extenuating circumstance that makes us different than others then we know we are being fed dog crap.

**""What is not an unacceptable answer is "well it was too late to make a hire." We all know what happened there.***

Didnt watch it. Supposedly Kiffin agreed to come to Auburn but the daughter knew she would be too far away from LSU dick.

If the real documentary didnt bring up why Lane kept blasting a reporter that broke Kiffin accepting the job for months the documentary isnt telling the whole story either.

the theory that Kiff and BP are good friends sounds plausible to me

it would also explain why he came so close to taking the job until his family intervened, which seems to be the official story now

personally i would be shocked if he left Oxford now, Sexton will probably get him another raise and extension out of it
