Probably a good idea. Unfortunately, the better we are the more that will probably leave (even if they aren't ready).

Chance Westery is the 4th highest rated player to ever sign with Auburn. Tall combo guard that's an EXCELLENT passer but not the greatest scorer from what I've seen. I think Tre Donaldson is going to be basketball only. He's a unique physical player for his position that Bruce hasn't had, I also don't see much shooting ability from him. There's not a lot of elite guys left in this class. We all know Jabari is gone with Zep who's a senior. Walker & Al are really the only mysterys. I would guess AL is gone tho. We'll need a few elite portal guys to be truly championship competitive next season IMO.

Bruce will get his gold in the transfer portal. NIL and Auburn basketball is going to be lit. These guys are going to get drafted and they can't hide how much fun they're having.

NIL will benefit AU basketball much more than football, think our big money is going to latch on. College basketball is just too much fun, and finally Auburn is seeing that.

Really hoping Walker Kessler takes some time to work on his jump shot and comes back for another year.

I think he will. He's having too much fun. I think he likes being close to his family and strikes me as the type that wants his degree.

I’d prefer not to add another pinned thread. My recommendation would be to use the general AU basketball thread that is pinned.

As it stands today, there’s not much coverage from Rivals, On3, or 247 on AU hoops recruiting. So I don’t believe a stand-alone thread would be worth it.

Wish you could pin a thread inside a thread, would make a lot of sense.

Walker and Allen will be gone imo… will be interesting to see why the JRs do… Williams, Cambridge, cardwell… if they come back, there’s potential for a ton of experience.

I am not a basketball expert but it seems that Flanigan hasn’t played nearly well enough to merit leaving at the end of the year.

Well the dude was hurt and didn’t play in the first 10 games, then had to sit bc of Covid. He’s just now getting back to form… he kept us in the game early yesterday with 4 pts and a couple nice assists to Kessler.

With NIL, staying in college is more attractive than G-League. You have a ton more eyes on you and can make more money. Obviously, the Jabari types will get huge contracts, but a guyvlike Walker can comeback, make bank, and enjoy what CBB is.

It will finally remove the main thorn in our side - the fact that we are not a Nike school.

With the NIL - we can get the players we want to get. No more Nike $ steering the players to Tuscaloosa, Florida, and LSU.

I’m sure Walker will enter his name for evaluation purposes and it will be interesting to see how much the NBA values his rim protection. The guy is playing like one of the top players in college but will see if scouts think it translates to a high pick.

Flanigan wouldn't get drafted if he leaves. He could play in Europe. He'll be back. His game reminds me of the 5* kid that Pearl signed that eventually transferred to St. Johns. Both were/are not great passers and facilitators and it takes too many possessions for Flanigan to be productive compared to what we have. Now that I think about it he may could transfer to be the man, but his Dad is coaching him at AU.

He could be a Gobert-type player with the Jazz but he's too weak to make the NBA jump this year IMO. Gobert with the Jazz played 1-2 years of development league before he saw the floor with the Jazz IIRC. He also was not strong like Kessler. I'll say this though. If you can protect the rim and block shots you can play in the NBA for 20 years. Utah (Jazz) have made a successful franchise out of it. Eaton, Ostertag, Gobert...
