I don’t think he ever said that’s what we he recruited him for, it’s just that what he was most prepared for coming in as a freshman was to be a bucket getter rather than QB’ing an offense. Pett certainly couldn’t be a 2 as a pro so I don’t think he would super interested in coming back in that role

How tall is Mayer? Never mind. I looked him up and he is a point guard. Still need a big.
I've seen places having him logged at 6'4.
In regards to bigs, Flory is a name to watch. Kansas boards are conceding.
I'm confident if Yaxel wanted to come then space will be made.
Micah Handlogten could be a name to watch assuming Condon stays.

I'm sure was banking on JPP being the 1 at the time and didn't want to force the position on Pettiford. But Pettiford kind of took the spot over.

Mayer is obviously going to be developmental piece. His Euroleague numbers are underwhelming but he is 18 playing in a league of pros. Austin Wiley was an MVP of the league that he played in a couple years ago or so.

“Tahaad’s not a point guard,” Pearl said Thursday. “He’s got the size of a point guard, but everyone assumed Tahaad was going to come in and be our point guard. He’s not.”
“Tahaad is a scorer,” Pearl said. “He is an incredible athlete. He can make plays on both ends of the floor. He’s going to be one of the fastest, quickest, most explosive little guards I’ve ever had. But he’s not a true point guard. Can he play some? He might.”

Early on in Pettiford’s career, Pearl said he plans to use Pettiford in more of an off-ball role. That would more likely slot him in as a shooting guard and in turn, behind starter Denver Jones for his freshman year.
“I think I’m going to try to play him off the ball and let him do what he do: get buckets,” Pearl said. “Get buckets. Which may help you understand why the roster has moved a little bit in the position it’s moved now.”

Yaxel wants a shite ton of money. I think UK is willing to pay. I would be surprised if he ended up at AU.
I’m very interested in what defenders we get. Especially in the front court. Bruce/Steven’s defense feeds to a shot blocker. So we need at least a couple of those.

Yaxel is Auburn, Michigan, Kentucky now. We’re pushing hard though. Mostly Au/Michigan battle right now. Flory’s name kind of cooling off a bit.
