Explain to me the Kiffin and Sumrall love,
Kiffin is a douche, but he will win a natty at LSU (likely more than one).
Sumrall is probably overhyped, but he is a good coach going by his record. Even though he coached at Troy and his wife is an AU grad, Auburn still pissed him off to the point where he told them to stop calling him and had his agent tell the media that he is taking his name out of the search. It's actually impressive how badly AU fricked that up.
Golesh will probably find some reason to turn the job down as well.
At that point they will have no choice but to hire Durkin who will be a perennial 4-8 coach until fired.

Because you aren’t going to be in play for good coaches when you’ve fired 3 coaches in six seasons… each cycle the crop of candidates gets worse and worse. I’ve been saying this for weeks. I have no clue how some of yall can’t grasp this.
Just wait until next time. We’ll be going after high school coaches in a couple of years.

It's pretty clear Penn State is in just as much trouble as the rest of us- Florida, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and so on.
You're making shite up to support some dumb narrative nobody cares about.

Josh Pate made it very clear that Sumrall told him that he wanted the Auburn job. And then when Cohen finally began calling Sumrall, Cohen's pitch was so awful that Sumrall lost interest and finally had to tell Cohen to stop calling.
That is 100% on the shoulders of Cohen. I'm not a huge fan of Sumrall, I would've selected several other coaches before him.
But we had several highly sought after coaches who wanted to coach at Auburn, and Cohen ruined it with his incompetence.

It's on one of his YouTube videos, it was about a week or two before Freeze was fired.
He talks about how he knows someone who wants the Auburn job more than any other job, and then he very clearly hints that Jon Sumrall told him that.

Time to realize that Auburn has become one of the doormats of the SEC! With NIL and transfer portal we’ve taken the place of Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. The Auburn boosters and administrators just don’t get it and aren’t going to pay the going rate for coaches.
We’ve been to eight bowl games since 2015 and managed to only win two. This will be the third year without bowling. The Malzahn, Harsin, Freeze era has done more damage to our recruiting and psyche, than we have ever imagined.
The best comparison of a program is South Carolina. A loyal fan base that keeps showing up and gets crapped on by its administration. Next years schedule is brutal and so is the year after that. Know matter who we get I don’t see this turning around anytime soon.
With Auburns two biggest rivals being Alabama and Georgia we will always be between a rock and a hard place but the administration and SEC love these games because of the money! One needs to go and unfortunately that Georgia. We would stand a chance then and have the ability to rebuild and gain confidence. Otherwise the best we could hope for is 10-2 and better not screw up any of the other games.
