If you’re a 1 seed, 2nd weekend becomes SO much easier. My sights have been set on that since we beat Houston. The work we have done now puts us in position to where we can lose 6 SEC games and still easily be a 1 seed.
And that also gets you a chance to get hot within the tournament if you get the right draw. Bama didn’t play well the first two rounds last year and suddenly they were in the sweet 16 and found their way

Yeah, I've been saying that for a few weeks. If we could somehow grab the 1 overall and get in the Atlanta regional that would be massive.
Going to be really tough with how Duke is playing and their schedule and Broome possibly missing 2-3 weeks but maybe they would put them in Indy?
Unfortunately Bama going to be hell to deal with also.

I’m hoping we can get by MSU at home and UGA on the road then Broome coming back for Tennessee. Luckily we’re off during the week next week.

Yeah it’s gonna be really tough to get 1 overall with Broome missing any significant time. Have heard some speculation Duke would maybe prefer Newark location but who knows

Forgive me if I'm wrong, I don't keep receipts on here like some but aren't you one of the ones who always says firing Freeze would set us back years? Seems like here you're acknowledging it's more important to find the right guy.
Bruce is the guy for Auburn. I am a Bruce lover first and foremost. Doesnt mean I think he shits gold. We are sleepwalking through a Mississippi State type slugfest even though he acknowledges the difficulty of our schedule. That South Carolina team is half cocked compared to the other grinders like the typical Mississippi State bully ball.

South Carolina’s front court is better than MSU’s this year. State is a much better team though

I was more referencing your staunch position on keeping Freeze (or any failing coach) than your feelings on Bruce.

I dont get it.
I dont think Bruce is failing. The ceiling is as high as it can be.
I am more disappointed that he got his chops being the tournament hunter at Wisconsin Milwaukee or whereever so he knows what it takes to take them out, but doesn't know how to guard against it.

Stop melting dude. We are undefeated in conference play, looks be damned. Just win baby. We are the best team in the country. If you can still complain about that, you’ve got issues.

Uga ain’t no slouch either. They’ve had two impressive wins in a row. They will def be ranked. We’re about to play 6/7 ranked opponents. It’s gonna suck not having Johni but this team isn’t just him. They’ll make it work.

I understand what you are trying to get at, but Johni is the engine of the offense when he is on the floor. Superb touch around the rim and great passing vision.
Maybe you can try to get a little of that going with Chaney but the other option we've seen is Tahaad pounding the rock.

Nuance is lost on most message boards. Simultaneous things can be true.
It’s tough to win on the road.
Tough to win when your guys aren’t 100%
We aren’t playing our best ball right now
We aren’t playing to our capability
And so on
22-23 UConn had a rough January before putting it together and going on a run. If you can pick a point of the season to work through adversity it’s probably now. Time will tell if we can work through it and get back to that next level

but you people that have cried about excellent basketball material by AUSC are the crybabies in the room.
What excellent basketball material? He’s been completely wrong about everything. Sure he posted prior to the season about how great he was. How much he knows. Woohoo. Great material. He hasn’t broken down a single concept we struggle with on offense or defense. Only resolution he provided was my coach would have us foul a guy that is red hot. Plus where was this dork when we were blowing folks out by 30. But the expert comes here sky screaming every close game with the doom and gloom bullshite.
Jang we are going to lose games. We will probably lose in March madness. It sucks because I want a basketball title. It’s just very hard to do. We have a team that can do it but there are about 10 others out there that can as well.

Im still a little unsure what I am supposed to be melting about. Texas and Missouri games were nice wins. USCjr was ugly but 1 game does not a trend make

Some people just seem to be waiting for us to lose and have a full on meltdown, but these close wins we are pulling out are driving them up the wall

The only thing I would say about this is that all the evidence disputes it. Insane take
I do agree. Evidence says this is a team that’s got all the right things, and we have worked so hard to build it and maintain it- keeping the ratio in balance in season is the challenge for every high performing program.
That, however doesn’t mean perfection each game or stretch of games. It’s part prep, part players, part culture and part endurance and part good fortune. Some nights just stink even if all the aforementioned are in line.
I think some people expect total dominance. Perfect games every Tuesday and Saturday. When we aren’t, we are flawed need to re-evaluate, therefore the wheels are coming off. Not in our case now.
I watch a lot of basketball. NBA, college, high school. I am not a coach. Not an expert. Just a fan. My observation is that we have an incredible basketball CEO, good coaching, good players, one great player, and a tough league.
I am sure the coaches are aware of what we see and are working on how to balance it all over a long season. Peaking at the right time…
I will end on this- no coach is above armchair “quarterbacking,” that said——I cannot understand how any AU fan would not give him the benefit of the doubt. Even if all the observations are “on point,” we are 15-1 and # 1 for the second time in 3 years…..do some box breathing….and realize where we are isn't a fluke. Fluke things may happen—-but we aren’t a fluke.

Nobody here wants to fire Bruce and he gets plenty benefit of the doubt.
He gets immense support despite his lack of postseason success since 2019.

I was in school with Tony. Id let Bruce coach for 30 more years if he just got us to the tourney every year. Of course you wanna win it all, and go far, but its so tough when you get to march.

Minor point but I always hate how this gets framed because of Covid and the Sharife weird arse season. Really just talking about 2022 and 2024 disappointments
