Cam Newton left the Panthers game. Looked like a shoulder injury. Injury came while the Bills were giving Cam a taste of what Clemson did to Stidham, on the 6th sack of the game at the end of the 3rd qtr

Dee Ford had a great sack, then the random English woman Dee Ford got a bunch of KC Chief fan tweets per usual

So they still have not fixed that OL two years after the SB?

Nope. To be fair, OL play in the league has taken a collective step back.

They havent attempted to give Cam even a serviceable OL since they drafted him.

Since 2011, only Alex Smith has taken more sacks than Cam.

He came back into the game the next drive btw and in true Auburn fashion led a drive to,the goal line and couldnt punch it in the end zone

Panthers up 9-3 at the 2 min warning

They have done a great job interior with Ryan Kalil + Trai Turner. Their ability to be a dumpster fire at OT though

Their SB run Michael Oher was solid. If Daryl Williams was healthy, they wouldn't have been as bad as teh Mike Remmers matador

Sammie Coates, miscommunication
Ricardo Louis, dropped pass
Shon Coleman, holding

All within a 2 play span. All on Cleveland.

Corey Grant just led the Jags in rushing and busted a 58 yard run. Didn't watch, may have been in garbage time. They beat the Ravens 44-7.

ESPN picks Carl Lawson as RDPOY candidate
quote:

Of that bunch, I'll go with Lawson; the Bengals inserted him into a larger role before the Packers game in Week 3, and Lawson has racked up 2.5 sacks and five quarterback knockdowns in the two ensuing games. Those are J.J. Watt-caliber numbers, and while I doubt he'll keep up that level of performance, Lawson appears ready to serve as an impactful pass-rusher from the jump for Cincinnati.

To be fair, wasnt he going against a 3rd string LT in the Packers game?

Still looked like a beast the next week, but not to the same consistency

More Carl Lawson:

Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Carl Lawson earning respect along with pressures

Long article about him, so I won't quote the whole thing.

quote:

Guenther recalls speaking with Lawson during the process and asking who are his top five pass rushers. Many prospects won’t have an answer. Not only did Lawson rattle off his five, but he continued by rattling off his moves and counter-moves not long after.

“I think my biggest asset is I can do everything,” Lawson said. “If you want speed, you got speed. If you want power, you got power. That’s what the best in the league have. If you want finesse, you got finesse. That is all three I have in my game.”

Whether a spin move or speed-to-power toss made famous by Reggie White or straight bending the edge, he's shown them all off. Advanced moves from a rookie on this level open eyes of evaluaters.

"You don’t see that a lot from young rushers," said ESPN football analyst Matt Bowen. "What do young rushers do? They want to use their speed around the edge and try to turn the corner, right? That’s what they did in college. They’re better than everybody else. That’s why they’re NFL players. They can win on talent alone. You can’t do that in the NFL. You cannot. So, I think he’s pretty advanced. I think that’s a steal of a pick. He’s unique."

quote:

He spent time learning linebacker in the preseason, but is employed solely as an edge rusher in the nickel. The remarkable aspect of Lawson’s dominant early run is the Bengals have only played one team which likes to drop back and throw a ton. In that game against Green Bay, Lawson terrorized a beat up Packers offensive line with 2.5 sacks.

Four games in, this isn’t about a small sample size against ragged competition.

In the third preseason game, he beat five-time Washington Pro Bowler Trent Williams. Last week, he faced his most prominent test against future Hall of Famer Thomas and not only had success, he broke his two front teeth off on the back of the quarterback in the fourth quarter. The Browns were even chipping with running backs to help Thomas out against the rookie.

“We don’t normally see that type of stuff,” Guenther said.

Instead, it’s a thrice passed over, undersized, Cincinnati Bengals fourth-round pick from the University of Auburn. His name is Carl Lawson.
