This is great and all but we really don't need a sticky for AU NFL news in my opinion. I don't give a damn about the NFL

So what you're saying is you don't care about Auburn players once they leave Auburn?

its not a bad idea, but you have to improve on the presentation. List every player, team the play for, link articles about them etc.

Not sure you what to go through all that bs instead of making a new thread for updates

Done.

Should the news be listed in OP or throughout the thread? If listed in OP I can put dates so people know what is most recent.

Trovon Reed was signed by St. Louis earlier this week.

quote:

The St. Louis Rams added to their collection of Auburn players by signing cornerback Trovon Reed on Tuesday night.

quote:

Reed is a former wide receiver -- catching 21 passes for Auburn in 2011 -- who played cornerback for the Tigers last season. Reed was not drafted, but did participate in the Seattle Seahawks' rookie minicamp as a tryout player in May.

Reed's signing comes with St. Louis starting cornerback E.J. Gaines and reserve cornerback Brandon McGee sidelined by injuries. Gaines is expected to be out at least two weeks after having his leg stepped on by a teammate in practice on Sunday. McGee has a foot injury.

Nick Marshall's poise hard to ignore for Jaguars

quote:

Marshall didn’t take long to make an impression in camp. On the second day, he intercepted a Stephen Morris pass and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown.

Although Marshall still needs to polish his skills, he appears to have a good chance of making the practice squad if he doesn’t make the 53-man roster.

He’s getting more reps these days because two corners, Dwayne Gratz and Peyton Thompson, are injured.

Marshall got some work with the second-teamers in the Saturday night scrimmage, along with duty on the third team. He almost picked off a pass on the final play of the scrimmage.

“I’ve got to make that play,” Marshall said.

Marshall is getting noticed by his teammates and coaches.

Veteran cornerback Davon House said, “He’s doing an excellent job. He’s 10 times better than when he started. I’m excited to see what he does in the preseason.”

Defensive coordinator Bob Babich called Marshall a “pleasant surprise” and said, “The game is not too big for him.”

Bradley said, “He’s got great poise and is a really strong competitor, and his speed and instincts are really showing up. I really like him now. He’s got a chance.”

JAX has a preseason game against the Steelers Friday night. I wonder if we'll see Marshall covering Sammie.

More updates from 247:

quote:

More on rookies from Auburn trying to make NFL rosters in training camps.

WR Sammie Coates, C Reese Dismukes, Steelers

Coates, the Steelers third-round draft pick, and Dismukes, who was an undrafted free agent despite winning the Rimington Award as the nation’s top center, will play in the first preseason game of the year in the Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio.

“It’s getting better every day,” Coates said, according to the Steelers web site. “We are working hard and making sure everything is down pat. We are doing a great job so far. I want to get better every day. That is the goal at practice.”

Dismukes, surprisingly, has had some struggles with snaps. He was exceptionally consistent on shotgun snaps at Auburn. ESPN NFL analyst Jeremy Fowler says, despite those struggles, Dismukes can make the final roster.

“He has held his own, tough kid,” Fowler tweeted. “There have been some snap issues but he has a chance.”

RB Cameron Artis-Payne, Panthers

Artis-Payne, who led the SEC in rushing last season, has picked up where he left off. The patience he shows to go with his running ability has impresses his teammates.

"He’s incredibly patient as a running back," fullback Mike Tolbert said, according to the Panthers web site. "You don’t see that a lot. Special guys that have that skill set. He’s patient. He knows when to hit the hole, when to make the right cut, the right read. "He’s learning at a good pace and doing a good job."

Artis-Payne is also dealing with a new nickname. His teammates call him “Soulja Boy.”

“It’s a killer, man,” Artis-Payne said. “It’s a horrible nickname, but as a rookie you can’t put up too much of a fight. You just take it.”

Artis-Payne has also impressed with his ability to pass block, which would come as no surprise to his coaches at Auburn.

“I’m good. I can pass block,” Artis-Payne said. “That’s the easy part. It’s something that one of my friends told me that was already in the NFL. He said that pass block will keep me in the league.”

DT Gabe Wright, Lions

Wright got some snaps with the first team during Saturday’s practice and held his own, according to reports.

Earlier, Wright talked about the experience of going from a championship season to an 8-5 record in his final Auburn season.

“Once in a while, every man needs his piece of humble pie,” Wright said. “It was definitely humbling to me.”

DT Angelo Blackson, Titans

Blackson has taken advantage of defensive tackle Sammie Hill being out with a knee injury to make a big impressions.

“Blackson possesses an unusually fast step for a guy his size” ESPN Analyst and Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky says.

Blackson is pushing to playing a larger role than even the Titans expected when they drafted him in the fourth round.

As a result, he is looking very explosive and impressive and is beginning to generate buzz as a player that can be a bigger part of the rotation than the Titans initially thought when being drafted.

TE C.J. Uzomah, Bengals

Uzomah has the size and speed to play tight end in the NFL. He’s shown the ability to block, too. He turned heads with a big block on linebacker Chris Carter, who has dominant since the start of camp.

“It’s a good start. I think we’ve got a bunch of capable guys,” tight ends coach John Hayes said, according to the Bengals web site. “We just have to develop them.”

Bengals insiders expect Uzomah to make the roster.

CB Trovon Reed, Rams

Reed, who moved from wide receiver to cornerback as a senior, signed a free agent deal earlier in the week with the St. Louis Rams. Reed signed a free agent deal with the Seahawks in May, but was cut.

I feel like we always got frustrated with Uzomah because he wasn't targeted and he wasn't an elite blocker. I imagine though that he is ahead of the game in terms of blocking compared to guys who are primarily receiving targets.

Random dude from Jacksonville Jaguar's SB Nation site (Big Cat Country) thinks that both Corey Grant and Nick Marshall make the final 53 active roster.
