As PM mentioned the hire soesnt have to be a qb coach. We'll be getting a 10thold assistant soon and could use that on a qb guy

So, Helfrich was in Auburn yesterday. Has an offer.

Jeff Scott should be sitting by the phone.

I would hope we would certainly bring in a quarterback coach whether the 10th assistant is passed or not. I wouldn't count on something that isn't in place yet.

Bring in a consultant who's good with QB. Not a big deal. For games, I'm sure KB can give some advice. Or Gus. Or OC.

Maybe Helfrich thought he was coming to interview for the HC

What ever happened it came out pretty quick when he left AU that he wasn't interested in a OC position. Not sure where he thinks he'll get a HC job this late in the cycle.

He may not have been interested in our strings attached to the OC position

Helfrich just doesn't make sense...there I said it..might as well just accept it.
Nothing in his history to make me thing he is what we need. I hope he holds out for a HC job

Certainly doesn't make sense if all Gus wants to do is bring in another guy to run his offense and just spice up the passing game.

Helfrich would make ZERO sense in that case.

Based on the type of coach we need, Lindsey is the best name I've heard at this point. One downside is that I know he wants to be a head coach soon. He was close to getting the Georgia State job last year.

What exactly makes Lindsey so special. Many other names I feel above him

Young and hungry
Run his own show and produced
Good with QBs and the passing game
Some history with Gus but not too much
Good recruiter with a solid reputation in the state/SE

Saying he "produced" is a pretty big stretch. He has been OC for 3 years, only one of those (Southern Miss) has been noteworthy. His other two years weren't pretty but hard to judge considering obstacles he faced

That's a good thing. Only successful coaches are able to leave for HC positions. You wan't these guys moving on up

My source told me there will be an Offensive Coordinator. He's never been wrong.

Now Gus is going to become the first coach to just stick 11 guys out there on offense and tell them to "just play ball" with no play called, just to prove you wrong.

So then you do think you know better than Nick Saban?

It's funny this Mothershed guy is supposed to be some legend but nobody outside of small town Alabama knows who he is. I personally never heard his name in my life until the recent tragedy with his son.

Btw, great coaches don't get forced into resignation Tuberville style like Mothershed. Only for Alpha shite like having multiple baby mama's and banging half the teachers in school like Probst.

2 State Championships in 4A oooooohh wow, soooooooooo impressive

frick you, buddy!!!

I played for John Mothershed. He was the O and D line coach when I was there under Head Coach Tandy Gerelds. You may have heard of him. They only made a movie about him not too long ago, Woodlawn.

As far as offense I would like to see. With the RB's, WR's, and QB AU now has I would love to see a marriage of Gus's offense with the West Coast offense we ran under Al Borges back in 2004.
