Don't we have one of those already?

He would be a good hire. He isn't the #1 guy on the board though.

He went to the same high school as Steve Prefontaine. Interesting...

Helfrich wasn't calling the plays at Oregon... kelly was.

Personally, I'd rather get s younger/hungry guy.

Was he calling them when Kelly left or was Frost? He had some success with Mariota. It seems like that was another Gus/Rhett situation where it's hard to tell who was doing what. At least he had a career before Oregon though.

I disagree with him.

You've got lots of work to do before you graduate to frickING douchebag level.

(P.S. You know that's a joke right?)

(P.S.S. Maybe.)

do not want.

We NEED someone with a high level of passing game acumen. Someone that can actually use passing concepts to pinpoint the weaknesses of the defense and attack. Not just hoping for a coverage bust. Maybe use a route combo that gets receivers open by design????

Just keep running the pick play over and over again like Dabo did versus Alabama. That shouldn't be too hard for Gus to implement.

I feel like a more established OC has a better chance of having true control of the offense. Obviously Gus will stay involved, but if it is someone from CGM's past, or a younger upstart, I just can't see Gus staying CEO very much.

IMO, announcing the new OC sooner than later would bring optimism to the whole class and the whole process and might nudge a few recruits who are on the fence...even defensive recruits.

"A rising tide lifts all boats," so to speak.

I may be naive and all fence-straddlers have been informed of the new hire, but I don't think we should underestimate how optimistic news, shared daily between friends and bandied about on social media, influences these 18 year olds' decisions as they approach signing day.

I think the decision will be made very soon....like within the next few days.

I would bet money it wouldn't last past tomorrow. I expect it today but not as confident on that one

I think Gus wants one but has another on the burner.

Does anyone have a cousin's friend's nephew in the athletic department or a cryptic tweet from a player's roommate for me to read? I want to know how our 2017 amateur insider class is shaping up.

The going fake insider news is that the OC was already hired yesterday and they were announcing it Friday/Saturday

I was told that Gus' #1 choice has a job as OC. His #2 is currently unemployed. Either would be a good hire, IMO.

ETA and both names have been mentioned multiple times here.
