Why? Are we to assume from last year and this year he's completely done needing to improve in his weakest area?
That doesn't mean he hasn't improved, just means he still has room to improve.

Grimes harped a lot on fact most of the guys turned their shoulders too much in pass sets. Doing that opens lanes to QBs. Focus has been on keeping shoulder and hips vertical
I came away encouraged listening to him. Seems like he's found his five guys and has a clear understanding of what still needs to be improved

Just came away that Grimes is a coach and is always coaching and wants to portray that message at all times. There is plenty of good and bad in there depending on context.
The fact that Tega completely locked down LT speaks volumes to the improvements he made since last year. However, as Grimes said there is still plenty of room for him to improve.

I agree. I feel better and I am typically (the last 3 seasons) pretty critical of the OL.
I have been concerned (mildly) about comments about the Buck position. Moving Coe may be a case of finding a way to get him on the field, but my skeptical side sees the possibility that TD and Big Cat aren't up to snuff.

Why?
I want my LT proficient in protecting the QB's blind side. Run blocking is great. Stidham must stay upright for us to have a successful season.

Probably more to do with inconsistency than anything else. Whenever I see a coach say they just need to put it all together, that just tells me they are making a great play followed by a bonehead play, not that they aren't capable.
Coe leading for Buck probably has more to do with getting the best 4 on the field at once, as well as consistency.

Okay? Were you assuming that Tega had somehow improved all he possibly could in the off season? Otherwise that statement shouldn't be concerning unless the context is he hasn't improved any.

no, but we are two weeks away from the start of the season and our OL coach says he needs to improve. He may improve during the course of the season, but I don't expect him to improve much in two weeks. We are opening with a supposed top 5 team.

Every OL in the country needs to improve in pass protection. I mean are you taking his statement as a "if he doesn't improve here we're fricked"? Any coach could have said the exact same thing about Robinson two weeks before the 2013 season.
Without any context, all that statement is is a coach saying where a player still needs to improve. Doesn't mean it is sub par or inadequate for us to be the team we want to be.

Greg Robinson says hi

Quote me in the history of football any coach that says ‘we are there. We don’t need to improve.’ Are you seriously concerned about that. We may suck, we may be the best - but to think that comments like ‘ we need to improve’ mean shite, your crazy.

After reading that shite Grimes said.

Tega still has basically zero experience playing LT. Dude is just not gonna pick it up. He was terrible at times last year. I hope he is improved but there is no way he is just going to snap and be a baller at LT. Takes time.

Lanier is correct.
It took King Dunlap 5 years to develop.

Confirmation bias at work. Like GoCrazy said, that news is not necessarily bad. You just think it is because you expect it to be.

Its goldfinger bro.. He wants the Auburn world to burn.

Tega also showed some pretty special flashes last season. Our best performances where with him at LT. You could say the same about our worst.

Agree.. He certainly has the ability and will eventually figure it out. Im just worried about those brain farts that may get Stidham murdered from the blind side

For those comparing Greg and Tega...Greg benefitted from Nick/Tre and possibly the greatest zone read combo in my memory. It was hard to rush up the field on them because you had to make sure who had the ball and what they were doing with it. Greg's NFL struggles aren't surprising because he never saw a pinned eared rush in 2013...our 3rd downs were typically 3rd and short.
The strength of the OL in 2013 was as much about the difficulty of defending a strong zone read than the talent of the OL. It is easier to get on your block when defenders have to hesitate even a second because of the zone read.

Yes, I am concerned. He was pulled as a starter last year because of his pass protection. He showed slow feet last year. That is not good trait for a LT or a RT.
