Congrats to the team. What a run. Bats just didn’t travel to Omaha. WDE!

How can we work around the scholarship limitation issue? We’ve got the staff now we’ve got to solidify the program by placing it on an even playing field….

You have to try to find top of the line baseball players with great grades so you can give them academic scholarships to offset.

We also need to be the “It” school in state. Work out from there. Gotta stop losing top 10 in state players to Ms state Vandy lsu.

Well Alabama can finally pass a lottery but we know that will never happen.

NIL and academic scholarships will be the way to go.

Also you have to consider what Vandy has become an absolute destroyer in recruiting. I think they signed 11 of the Top 100 players from last cycle. I don’t know how many even made it to campus. They lost a lot to the draft the past 2 classes.

This, with NIL there’s really no reason to even worry about scholarships anymore as you can just pay the kids.

Excellent season considering we were picked last in west. Absolutely amazing really and there is nothing like making the trip to Omaha. I believe we had the toughest bracket as well. I hope Butch can build off these last two trips for recruiting.

Pretty funny way to give reflection on the season when we struggled with our division more than any other division or conference and finished fourth while ole miss finished 5th. Maybe preseason rankings weren’t all that much of a slight?

In other words just say excellent season we won a game in WCWS???

The division is a murderer's row for sure, but being picked to finish last is definitely still a slight. Yeah we finished fourth but only because of a lightning delay causing a game to be cancelled. We finish that game and we most likely win and move up to third.

But that's all semantics really. End of the day...

or you could say that the team was one of the final 6 teams playing, made it to Omaha and won a game there

Last I checked we were top 10 pre draft. Butch is doing fine recruiting. Personally, I'd like to see us step up to the Arky/MSU level on Stadium. We have all the ingredients to be a baseball power.

Except for the most important pieces.

1. A commitment from the university
2. Scholarship limitations
3. Land for expansion at Plainsman Park
4. Support from AU fan base equivalent to Arkansas or Mississippi State who out draw AU by 3x on the weekends

In reality, we have very few ingredients outside of Butch Thompson. Which makes the recent feats accomplished by the program all the more impressive.

Ingredients doesn't mean finished product. The moment our administration comments 100% to baseball; a national title is realistic.

Butch did a great job in the transfer market and it worked out but you have to build from the high school level and we are close to the bottom of the conference most years in that category. Sure picking up a couple transfers a year are great but how many of our regular contributors counting pitchers were transfers? Like 6-7?

So what is your assessment of this team based on preseason Evals by different groups and then ending it in Omaha?

In any sport it’s a grinding journey to get to THAT place in that sport we consider a success and great season. Final Four, CWS, CFP 4 playoffs etc.

We ended 5th in the CWS of all the teams invited with that 1 win.

So what would u call it?
