Article states a reason wasn't given, but the only way we didn't back out is if we were kicked out. That would make no sense after being accepted to play in it a long time ago. And if we were booted, the athletic department needs to be raising hell.

But everything points to us backing out of this thing. Awesome. More Kennesaw States, Coppin States and Winthrops.

What a joke.

Probably.

Don't know if I've flipped on a coach as fast as I'm turning on Barbee. I doubt pulling out of this was his decision alone, but how is our team supposed to get any better if it NEVER plays anybody in the non-conference?

I don't care if we would've lost every game by double digits. It would've been our very first games of the season, and it could've done nothing but helped our (what will be) young team get some much-needed experience before the SEC schedule.

Not a whole lot of good things to say about our bball program right now.

That's not fair. We would have gotten pummeled, and it would have sucked. Then, we would have gotten demolished in SEC play (because we're Auburn) and the storyline would be that the team lost their confidence because of the early losses.

Now, we'll play scrubs, get demolished in SEC play (because we're still Auburn), and the storyline will be that we didn't have enough competition early.

It was a lose-lose. Only real benefit of going was to let the players hang out on the beach for a while.

that freaking sucks...why would we back out?

isnt the point to play tough competition to get better? this just seems like a damn sham to have barbee get a better record

We suck at basketball. I'm content to let the Chris Porter era be my last good memories of basketball at Auburn.
