Our guys are playing terrible off ball d. It’s like they don’t know when to help out, switch etc… and they are slow (lazy) when trying to help. KO is the worst

Yep. SP noted it earlier in the week too, but it has rarely been a consistent one thing game to game. Each game seems to be a different main problem in the 3pt defense (not that others aren't present). One game the switches may be good but the close outs are awful. Next game the closeouts are fine but we get lost switching.

This teams a complete joke defensively. And that’s supposedly Pearls strength as a coach.

I’m completely out on Steven. He was put in a very difficult position… if he truly wanted to run a high major program he should’ve cut his teeth at lower levels like his dad. He’s way in over his head and the sooner we move on th better.

One thing I was curious about when the change happened, is I don't think we ever hired anyone to replace Steven's position, that i'm aware of. Always seemed odd to me, but also we weren't really in a position to do so with how Bruce left. Will be curious if we hire someone in the offseason.

I think its fair to be criticial of him at this point, but I think the rest of the staff deserves so well due criticism as well.

It's both effort and general awareness. The awareness thing can either be bad coaching or it can be a roster of guys who just don't care to lock in to scouting report & scheme and unfortunately you can't bench everyone.

For that reason alone I would never be "out" on Steven after this season as many others are so eager to be, but it would be in his best interest to earn at least a little goodwill back headed in to next year by getting the most out of this group.

It will be interesting to see if any assistants leave at the end of the season. I bet a couple will. I don’t think we will win another game this year. Next year will be a total overhaul. I imagine Pet gone and Hall graduates, We basically have to sign a new starting 5. We are likely going from a Final 4 to Tony Barbee Era bad in 24 months.

Careful. You cannot be an Auburn fan unless you show gratitude in Bruce even in the brain-dead knucklehead post-coaching business arrangements.

I personally suspect SP is a much better coach than Tony Barbee, but the league is twice what is was back then. Merely above average coaches get exposed in this league now.

Hell, I think there are some BP teams that would have had a losing record this season witht he schedule we've had if I'm being honest. Not excusing how we've looked by any means lately, but ultimately to be what, 5-5 against other final 4 coaches, and to play 10 final 4 coaches in the regular season isn't something to scoff at.

He's going to have his work cut out for him for sure for next year. He's going to have to figure out a way to keep things from snowballing.

Nobody cares. There are reasons why Bruce's worst teams were bad. He was either building Auburn up from nothing or stupid shite went down.

The main difference is Bruce knew how to rebound and did rebound.

Bruce went through some bad game stretches, question is, will SP and staff get on track. Need to go on a win streak

I'm agreeing with you

SP's going to have to figure out how to right the ship or he will be gone.
