I’m not sure how we could be any worse on the line. Are we even coaching them at this point?

I’ve never seen anything like that before. It’s crazy, but there’s no replacements for who is out there on the Oline either.

I've seen better coached linemen on my kid's 3rd grade flag football team.

There were at least 5 clips circulating Twitter of our Oline whiffing yesterday

We had 7 in to block 4 and 2 of them still got through lol

quote:I never attribute that stuff to coaching. Coaching is pre-requisite to having a job at this level for 20 years like Friend. I have no devotion to him and he's an Alabama player and grad. It would be more likely that Jackson made the mistake. He has the athleticism to start but never really has, so maybe he's just football stupid? If you've ever played football you know that might be possible. Regardless it seems to be systemic to AU not being able to run good enough replacements out there to increase the execution. That is depth.

They're lookout blockers.

When you continuously have missed blocks like that you have to blame coaching.

My only goal in life was to have my son watch AU football with me. He plays 12u center and we watched that clip, and he asked what the player was doing. I had no words. Never seen a play like that where the player just stands up and looks, and he looked away. Someone posted they brought 4, but they only brought 2.
In 10 years if a book comes out that this was all intentional, that would make more sense than what I am seeing.

Though I like to blame coaches as much as anyone, are you saying that a kid playing offensive line who is on scolarship at a SEC program, either thinks that is the correct way to block or that the coaching taught him to do that?
I am going to go with effort on the player since it was totally pathetic.
Should coaching be on his arse? Hell yea but he was not taught that and knows better. If he blocks the wrong guy or the wrong direction, thats different.
Same thing with our Quarterback carrying the ball with one hand. He was not taught that and I am sure he knows better. Its effort on his part to fix that issue

I’m saying when you have 5 clips from the same game from different players, clearly you’re doing something wrong as a coach.
Seems pretty clear that you have players thinking way too much when they can’t handle it if we’re letting guys go completely free. If the player was just going on pure instinct with no coaching, he’s blocking the guy in front of him and not looking to his left.
If it was one player or one play, then yeah blame the player. And at some point if the player keeps fricking up, then why is he playing?
