If we're going to take an unnecessary three there, Harper is about fifth on the list of guys I want taking it. Heron, Lang, Purifoy, Brown. Any of those were better options tonight.

What the frick are you talking about?

I was criticizing Golftiger for being a dumbass. This extends well beyond this melt. That fricker spews complete bullshite constantly regardless of if we are winning by 20 or losing by 20

No I was saying our 08-09 team was better than this one. That other guy said this team was better or more talented. They aren't. Maybe more potential, but that team was better and it's not close.

I honestly expected to lose several conference games this year, but the way we've blown these leads is hard to watch.

I hear ya. I was trying to refresh to see how the game ended via posts, but the site kept crashing...

But now I am caught up.

Oh, and all I really wanted to say, relevant to your previous post or not, is that Bruce Pearl isn't a very good coach when it comes to talent DEVELOPMENT.

I think that's kind of obvious now.

So we better hope we're bringing in players that already know what they are doing.

It makes me wonder whether Bruce's willing nepotism in keeping his son on staff is part of the problem? Or, hell, even The Rifleman? If one or both are a problem, then they need to GTFO. But (and here's where nepotisim always becomes a problem) how do you fire your own son?

Damn Gene if you want to make this personal I am more than happy to meet you at the Sonic of your choosing. Until then remove the sand from your vagina and get a reality check.

Frazier is the best player in the league.

I know Thornwell got the hardware, but Frazier carries his team.

I thought we would go ISO with Heron driving for last shot. Harper's 3 was a clean look, but a shade deep.

I'm not ready to gauge that yet based on this year. I do think we got better offensively and fell off the map defensively. We have a team full of freshmen and it only takes one of them to make a mistake at any given time and everything breaks down. If we don't significantly improve next year, then we have a development problem, IMO.

Our freshmen are still making the same mistakes in Game 30 that they were making in Game 1.

I'm sure there are coaches in the NCAA that can actually coach freshman players up from Game 1 to Game 30..

The offseason is where coaching fundamentals takes place as well as the most improvement. In the season there's so little time in between games that almost all practice time is spent preparing for the next team.

I'd be willing to bet that the freshmen who improve the most in season are doing it surrounded by upperclassmen instead of other freshmen.

Yes we are still making the same mistakes, but now we're doing against conference teams instead of Mercer and Boston College.

Go make a list of the best seniors around the country and then take a look at where they were as freshmen and get back to me with any players who were even close as a freshmen to what they are as upperclassmen. JJ Frazier for example in his first year starting, as a sophomore, didn't have as good a state line as Harper does. That was with 5 more minutes per game and a whole year in a system and previous playing experience off the bench

Biggest jump in player development in any sport happens between the freshmen and sophomore year. If the same guys are still doing the same things with as much frequency next year then that kind of criticism is more than warranted. As for now, keep in mind the other realistic candidates we could've hired instead for Pearl and ask yourself if you think we'd be better off. I doubt it.

I dont know what else to call it but, I dont understand how we have all this talent and build double digit leads and blow them. Freshmen or not, we make the same mistakes every game. That is part of coaching teaching players to eliminate mistakes. Either our players are really overated, Pearl has no clue how to develope them or they are uncoachable morons. These kids have been playing basketball for several years and last summer and Fall camp should have been enough for a good coach to get them up to speed. Hell Wiley has gotten worse in the last couple weeks

No senior leadership. The older players on the roster have been disappointing for sure.

Most of their development will not come from coaching during the season is my point. All you have time to do right now is get ready for the next opponent. These guys are really going to develop physically and mentally during the offseason. If we aren't better next year, then we have a real problem.

This is how I feel. If same problems exist next season then I will have real concerns about future. As of now I am still hopeful considering the spurts I have seen from this team. Disappointing SEC season no doubt but I still think we heading right direction

We just better show up Saturday. Beat down Mizzou at home to finish the season with a win heading into SEC tourney

That is because you are either a moron or are willfully trying to make this Bruce and team out to be worse than they are.

Little Pearl needs to go though. He's an arse and brings nothing to the table coaching wise.

He clearly has some motive to shite on Bruce. His posts indicate that he wouldn't like Bruce even if we were winning 25+ per year

I'll be the first to admit that Bruce deserves some criticism but Golftiger clearly doesn't watch the team or has it in for Pearl based on his posting

To prove how ridiculous this claim is, here are 4 teams with significantly better recruiting + programs who have struggled with youth. These are all top rated coaches

Coach - School - Experience Rank
Tom Izzo MSU - (18-11) -#319
Shaka Smart - UTx - (10-19) #342
Lon Kruger Oklahoma (10-19) #332
Tom Crean Indiana (16-14) #306
