Kind of funny that we’re all environmentalists all of the sudden though.

I just want law and order enforced. If it's not a big deal, then why are they protected?

It is a big deal. I don’t want to get into politics. This is bad.

Its a shite thing to do but if they had a permit and followed the requirements, you really cant be mad at them. We have a bunch of eagles here and they nest just about anywhere. Trees get removed and they just moved over two trees and rebuild... They are some industrious bastards and. can build a nest way faster than you thihk...

There is a nest across the street from my shop on top of a cell tower that is 10 feet wide.

I think in Florida, they will not let you remove a nest if there are babies present.

The story I read on 1819 news said the permit stipulated they could not disturb the nest if there were adult eagles actively nesting there. Therefore, they did not follow the requirements.

I have not heard anything obviously. They use the nest here even when they dont have little ones. I think they can remove them here as long as here are no little ones. Not sure how that works with visible eggs. Im sure thats the same as babies.

Interesting. If they did not follow the rules of the permit, that could be a big fine for them

I suspect there were some Robin nests up there as well. Where is the outrage for them?

Nonexistent.

Some of us take into consideration that Bald Eagles are an endangered species that is federally protected, and are widely accepted as an important symbol of our country.

But there’s money to be made something something. We don’t need the government telling us what to do. Environmentalism is socialism.

Either way the guys who did this will get away with it.

Looks like there is some argument if they followed the permit or not. Looks like Alabama lets developers "self examine" these nests.

There would need to be some kind of proof that there were eggs or small ones in there in order to fine them. Listening to people who live around theres word is not going to cut it. Animal people are crazy AF these days.

quote:

The developer claims no eggs or hatchlings were in the nest, describing it as an “alternate” site. However, residents argue video evidence taken Friday shows constant eagle activity and say the birds were frequently seen hunting and returning to the nest.

Critics argue the USFWS’s reliance on permit holders for self-reporting fails to ensure unbiased monitoring.

Even if they didn’t follow the permit the penalty is a fine they can pass down to the consumer.

I am.

And for all the outrage here, they’re going to get away with it whether I like it or not.
