I kind of hope we are ranked #2. Our team could use an extra chip on our shoulder against Kentucky Saturday. If we win that game, we should certainly be number 1.

This team plays best from behind 100%.
We let our foot of the gas when we get up and opponents go on big runs against us. Then the second its tied or they get up a few we go on a massive run. Im afraid if we get ranked #1, well let up.

We will for sure have some #1 votes but there will be some that will have Auburn somewhere between #5-10. (We had 5 votes outside the top 10 last week). I think AU will be #2, but would be nice to have the first #1 ever.

If we’re not number 1 the ranking is useless. There really isn’t a question.

This was my sentiment originally as well, mainly because I think the AP voters are going to screw us and I was preparing myself to not get to #1. But I have changed my tune this morning. This team has the best resume in basketball and they deserve the #1 ranking. Would be a monumental moment for this program. Plus this is probably our best shot to get it as well. We are going to slip up in conference play at some point and Gonzaga doesn't even play the 2nd best team in their conference until the end of the year I believe. We could get to #1 next week with a win against Kentucky, but that isn't even a guarantee.
Also, I don't think Bruce will have a hard time getting this team motivated for a top 10 matchup at home. Even if we are #1, the speech will be, "we just got here for the first time in program history, do you want to give it up that easily?"
Have they announced where college gameday is going to be this weekend? I would think this game would have a legit shot of getting it.

When I read that last weeks poll had at least 5 voters voting us out of the top 10, then there are voters who vote just against Pearl, damn the team.
It will be hard to get to 1 until all dominoes fall.
It will be nice to get our first #1, but i think if not, we will have to beat KY to get there now....

I’m not buying the hype around UK yet. Yes it is a big game for us, but I’m not willing to say how good they are yet. They lost to LSU, who while at times has been good, they’ve also been bad. And also lost to a not good ND team.

If they play anywhere near as good as they played against UT, we're going to have a hard time winning. It was so impressive.

And LSU lost at home to ARk. So who knows.
But the analysts that cover the sec, are saying KY is playing better overall than anyone at this point.
These teams can win on the road, just as much as we can.
