I am not a huge BP fan but he is a better coach than GC. If morals won football games Chizik would be winning every game and Saban would be on the hotseat.

Who's to say Auburn isn't his preferred final destination? We tried to get him once; he would've come, if not for the press finding out. Maybe this is where he wants to be all along...

Agree. But I'm not getting my hopes up just yet.

Petrino is a better football coach than Chizik...but Petrino's history raises some red flags for me. I've never been a fan, and think we could get a coach near BP's level with less baggage (and I'm not just talking about his character).

That's just my .02.

No one's available (unemployed) right now, but I think we could get a current BCS conference coach to jump to us.

Which coach are you going to get that is back-to-back 10-wins at Arkansas with Bama/LSU on top good? There are only a handful of coaches in the college game that would ever get an NFL HC job offer, and Petrino was good enough to get one of those.

The question with Petrino is whether or not his baggage is worth it and whether or not it will affect his ability to do his job. From a pure coaching standpoint, I dont see any candidate as good. You are talking about a coach that has already shown that he can field a BCS Bowl team in the SEC...and he did it at a school with considerably fewer resources than Auburn across the board. Even guys like Patterson and Petersen who are constantly nut-hugged cant make that claim.

I said near his level, not exactly his level...a guy like Patterson would be near his level.

For a lesser coaches...how about Strong or Cutcliffe?

I've been converted to the Bobby Petrino bandwagon.

Eh, I'm tired of lesser nice guys. I want a whore slapping, alpha male coach like Petrino.

I'm this guy at the end...

Don't want him. Great coach, but I can't handle that baggage personally. I'm not in charge, though, and I could see the folks with the money and the power getting Bobby.

He's the only coach I see getting the results we're all loooking for. Fisher is a very very close second.

I can't decide.

I don't want my coach to be a prick, but that's just me.

Chizik's a great guy, but a bad head coach.

A guy like Patterson would MAYBE be near his level. Patterson has yet to prove that he is anything more than a mid-major star. This is TCU's first season in the Big 12 and so far they are a 5-2 team that has played a very favorable schedule, having lost to the only two "good" teams they have played. Their remaining 5 games are all against name-programs in the Big 12, we'll see how he handles this run because he's never seen anything like it at TCU before. Could be anywhere from a 4 loss, to a 6 loss season for them (not counting a Bowl game).

I don't put a lot of stock in the current rumors, but I'd love to have him.
