Dont know. Probably bout the same. That offense averaged 13 rushing first downs a game to 7 passing first downs in 2016
This year we averaged 10 passing first downs to 9 rushing first downs per game.
I think Thorne would've done better in a balance that SW had.

It took 5 games into the season to get up to fricking game speed. I’m not saying QBs go live. But everyone else get after it. Iron sharpens iron. My biggest complaint is not being physical.
Undoubtedly this ^^^
I heard we were so thin that the coaches were reluctant to risk getting some starters dinged up ….. well frick that. If they can’t make it through a physically demanding practice, then give snaps to those who will …. someone else who wants to get better.
You didn’t mention Special Teams much, but I assume a critical need to improve ST performance is so obvious that it doesn’t require much mention.
Good post
T-Zach… full- out hurtling heisman hopeful Patrick Peterson . Dude was a burner ….

Should start seeing a lot of new faces moving in at Auburn in the next week. If I’m not mistaken classes start on the 13th.
Move in date is the 8th (I think).
It’s time to start winning now! Time to get to work on the 2025 season now!!

Auburn has a really short window compared to most … a lot of other programs don’t start until mid-to-late Jan.
If we’re going to grab our remaining “need positions “ from portal, it hopefully happens this week. We need a full compliment of players participating in spring ball, especially since we missed bowl practices.

Classes start on the 13th. At bama they start on the 8th. Really only schools
That roll in later is on the quarter system. We used to be on the quarter system and the first 3 games in the fall the students weren’t even on campus.

I remember … we were on quarters when I graduated in 80
Don’t a lot of the midwestern schools start on the 21st?

I’m not letting this go until after spring practice and they prove me wrong.
The 2024 football team was soft mentally and physically. Will the 2025 team be?
That will be the difference in meeting expectations and failing to meet expectations.
Again this needs to run the message boards and back to the team and coaches. If they can’t accept constructive feedback give back the NIL. Coaches and players.
I will keep banging this drum until proven wrong.

Kinda hard to speculate without knowing the completed staff replacements are announced, but definitely on the right track.

I just want some new core memories of Auburn football… I am tired of recycling the old ones in my head of 2004, Cam and Nick.

Are you under the impression that fan sentiment from the hallowed halls of internet forums should have some sway here?
If I'm paying/earning millions, the last people I'm taking "advice" from are forum dwellers.

No I don’t think that but I do think it can move from message board to movers and shakers that there is a growing sentiment that the team is immature and soft.
Where do you think the talking heads on the Auburn beat get their info from the “fanbase”?

Id just like to see a more disciplined team ie:
If you are in the backfield to protect, dont run into the flat while a blitzing CB runs past you to the QB
If its 3rd and 5.....you dont run a 4 yard out pattern.
If you are the left tackle and the outside linebacker approaches the line, tell the guard to block the end and you take the LB, instead of taking the end, the guard stands there and the LB crushes the QB
If you have two options on a route and the safety is running at you full speed, dont take the skinny post in front of him, take it long and watch him pass you with flailing arms while you are wide open
And, finally, when you are on special teams and the ball is clearly sailing out of bounds on the kickoff......dont catch it on the 12 and get tackled immediately.

Bang bang bang.
On that drum again. Notre Dame and Penn State tonight are perfect examples of playing hard, intense, and physical.

They have some talent.
However, they BELIEVE in each other and compete.
I still think Ohio State will win, but CMF will not give away the game. They may get beat, but I don’t think the Irish will do stupid stuff like double passes from diamond formation or check to RPO with a lead at midfield in fourth quarter.

It’s only dumb if it doesn’t work. That’s the strange thing about coaching decisions.
I’m not talking about those type coaching decisions. I’m talking in practice decisions, before the season decision, and the fortitude of this team

Yes. Nothing in Hugh Freeze's resume or post-season hiring/firing suggests we're going to become a physical team. When we hired Gus Malzahn, we went away from that line of thinking instead trying to take "scheme" shortcuts.
After watching ND and PSU last night, I'm ready for us to get back to a defensive head coach. May never happen, but football has gotten away from being a physical game. It's nice to see some teams still can play that way, though.
