Harsin did get us our first 4* OT since 2017. But he didn’t get many others.

Colby Smith was a 4* OT on 247, but not in the composite. That was also a win at the time… but yeah quantity was the real issue

I updated the roster on the recruiting thread this morning and it was weird to add so many freshman OL. Haven’t done that in a while

Reading other threads, figured I'd put this here not to derail those,... but if Stutts starts for us at one of the G positions this year, we aint winning many games. That dude is garbage. I dont know that I've seen a D1 lineman that lazy with feet that bad. The fact that he was ever more than a blocking dummy or made it off the scout team, speaks volumes for the shape that our line is in!

What about Joiner? He the more highly rated C. Is there something about Lew that jumps out as to why he would start over Joiner?
Lew is arguably the top C in the class. Joiner will wind up at G if I were a betting man.

I think we need 3 more…have 7 already committed/signed and really needed an entire 2-deep.

An experienced center and 2 guards.

Wright, maybe Tate Johnson. Curious if a certain TE moves over to OT.

If you're on this roster and you haven't seen the field by now then I wonder if you can ever be more than a depth piece at OL for AU. Colby Smith?

Not sure you can write some of the younger guys off. I still think Smith, Harris, and Langlo have a shot

Smith is very big but also very slow. Needs a lot of work with his feet to be a RT. I expect Harris to move inside to guard. Freeze pulls a lot of guards in some of his traps/gap schemes. I think Harris would be a great RG. Langlo just might be a starting guard this coming year. Depends on punch and hands at the point of attack along with drive blocking.

Can wait until fall practices when the OL and DL are fighting at the end of plays. We need some big nasty intentions guys on both lines of scrimmage

You could trot out an actual ? mark and it would block better than what we saw last season

In their defense, they improved last year and graded fairly well. Were they good? No. Were they bad? No.

Corch Jay, I agree, finally a spring with some competition. No more warm body you start approach.

I would expect the 3 deep on the OL to look similar to something like this. I expect 1 of the younger backups (Langlo) to step up and 1 of the older OL guys (Irvin,Stutts) to push

LT - Wade/Johnson/Wedin
LG - Wright/Harris/Joiner
C - Jones, Lew, Johnson
RG - Langlo/Stutts/Jernigan
RT - Britton/Miller/Smith

Only player I think that is really out of position in the 3 deep I laid out is Wedin. I think he's an insider player probably a LG in the future but will give him great pass pro reps in practice. Obviously also if Wade went down Johnson and/or Wedin would not replace him there would be a shuffle on the OL. I also think Joiner will get plenty of snaps at center. That Lew/Joiner center position going into the 2024 season will be interesting. Obviously I could see in my own 3 deep swapping of Lew and Joiner at the center/guard spots depending on how the coaches evaluate them once on the field and during "workout season"
