It’d be nice to pull one from those bitches for once.

Dukes @247 said this a few weeks ago:

Five-star cornerback Jahlil Hurley from Florence, Ala., has been committed to Alabama since February but that doesn’t mean teams have stopped recruiting him. Auburn is one of those programs and those efforts are being led by secondary coach Zac Etheridge. Hurley also has been consistently recruited by Georgia and Florida as well, and my sources tell me that if he ever were to waver on his commitment that Auburn would be squarely in the mix. I continue to hear that this recruitment is far from done.
Dukes switched his CB from Bama to AU today. He’s been pretty on top of Hurley’s recruitment

4* Rueben Bain on Auburn
quote:
Auburn is also giving Bain plenty to think about.
“With them, it’s just that edge spot," Bain said. "When I come in, they only got like one edge on the roster. So, I could have make an immediate impact and have a chance to play early. But it's also Coach Roc [Bellantoni], I have been knowing him since I was about 11 years old because he coached my brother when my brother was at FAU. So, I got that long lasting relationship with him.”
Bellantoni is already working on getting Bain back for a more personalized visit as Bain briefly got to tour campus while on a bus tour with some other recruits from South Florida.
"It was awesome just seeing everything and seeing all the legends that came through there," Bain said. "Then they told us the story of the War Eagle, and that was great. They also showed us the new facility that they are building now. That was great. I think it will be done by January or December. My class would be the first class to see and partake in it. That would be fun."

Auburn is in 4* S Dakaari Nelson’s top 6 with Clemson, Oregon, PSU, UK, and UT.
Not sure how hard Auburn is pushing in this recruitment, honestly

Tre Donaldson to only play basketball all.
Posted on 4/26/22 at 9:08 pm to RockyMtnTigerWDE
This was obvious when Harsin didn’t mention him at either signing day. I’ve kept him off the roster in this thread
It’s possible that he could wind up playing football if basketball doesn’t work out but doing both these days is about impossible

I wasn’t aware he was enrolled for spring so yeah, that makes sense.

It was billed initially as a dual sport thing. His high school coach (Charlie Ward) was a bball/football (heisman) guy which probably kept media at bay on the subject.
Bruce runs the Auburn athletic department right now. Donaldson is a great high school safety but defensive back just isn’t in need right now. Bruce isn’t going to share if he doesn’t have to.
We’ll see what happens down the road. Donaldson is a legit two way guy in an era that doesn’t encourage it any longer

Somehow it seems we are doing the exact same thing we did last year as far as offensive transfers are concerned. Which is to say, we're not doing much.
Last year, the OL was a known weakness. Took no transfers and saw the results of it.
This year, OL is a known weakness. Taking no transfers.. the results..?
WRs the weakest position group on the team.. taking no transfers.
Don't get me wrong, OL recruiting seems to be going pretty well, so its not all negative. I just don't understand our lack of incoming transfers on offense given our lack of production from the guys we currently have.
WR recruiting though.. I get that we just hired Ike, but we need to step up big time here. All these recruits who keep coming in for visits and none of them play WR.

OL I can understand not being able to get people. We have a bunch of veteran OL. They’re not good, but they’re established and that is a big con to guys who may only have a year or two left.
WR is more of a head scratcher. I guess it’s hard to sell the QB room.

You have to break down the problem to understand it.
Transfer receivers don’t want to go to a situation where they don’t know who the QB is. And especially when the QB will be a SECw castoff. Landing a transfer WR without a QB is about impossible.
A transfer OL, likely to be hitting draft eligibility, doesn’t want to tie his future to a couple of former DTs, a couple of guys coming off multiple surgeries, etc.
On paper it looks like we’re just failing to act. In reality, we just don’t have a lot to offer P5 transfers with low eligibility, grad transfers from anywhere, or small school guys looking for the 1 year showcase.
The whole offense essentially needs to be rebuilt from high school.

Thanks Jonesy, but I hope our well-paid, highly-skilled coaches have a better sales pitch than that.

Right.. but then that brings up my other point about WR recruiting. We either need transfers or 3 or 4 good HS WRs. English is good, that's 1 if we get him. And then there's? Nakai Poole maybe? He would be ok as like the 3rd or 4th guy, but so far we have a lot of work to do. Like I said, part of it I get because Ike just got here, but a lot of work to do.
