There is no way we don't win 9 games last year with Gus as coach. Corch I agree with what all you are saying but football season is soon and I need to get positive and hope I don't get shiit on this year. I love how the players are talking and hope they can pull out a few extra wins.

It was only a 6 week class. I took a grand total of one at UNA for dual enrollment too.

Explain to me how you arrive at this conclusion.

Remember, you not only have Gus as HC, but Chadwick as OC, and the rest of the staff that went 0-4 against teams with winning records in 2020 - and you will face a schedule with 10 such teams (9 of them P5) in 2021.

Which 3 teams would Gustav have beaten last year that Harsin didn’t?

PSU, GSU, USC, and MSU.

Houston, Bama, and State for sure.

This is a clown question bro. All Auburn fans know Gus was decent in the odd years.

Probably Bama as well. And possibly Houston. Against Bama Up 10-0 very late 3rd qtr and we get an interception around our own 40-45 yard line. You don't think Gus dials something up to get a first down then goes for the throat? Plus he's proven multiple times in close games he would out coach Saban on the field.

2020 is very interesting in that we went 6-4 that year with no cupcakes. Say we get the normal 3 shite teams and 1 decent team out of conference. At a minimum that team wins 9 games.

PSU, when AU had lost its last 15 of its last 20 games on the road against teams that finished above .500.

GSU - Harsin won that one, so you can’t count it. Would Gustav have benched Bo and given TJ a chance to pull it out?

USC - kinda hard to give you credit for this one, seeing as how AU lost to them the previous season with a healthy Bo, a better WR corps, more talent on defense and facing an HC that would never win another game before getting fired at season’s end.

MSU - this one’s probably legit, because Steele wouldn’t have let Rogers stand back there and pick us apart.

Now ask yourself this: would Gustav have beaten LSU in Red Stick? Or Arky on the road in their big revenge game? Or Ole Kiff?

If Kevin Steele was still DC. Mason was a train wreck with the talent he had at his disposal.

If we has beaten Bama and State, we wouldn’t have played Houston - we’d have played someone like Iowa or Oklahoma State and they’d have drilled us, just like all of the other bowl games Gustav took us to.

And I don’t think there’s any way in hell that Gustav could have gotten the performance out of TJ that Harsin did in the IB. He’d have had him running delayed QB draws into the heart of Bama’s DL.

I'm not sure why we can't stay on track. I know I go off but I generally don't go off without someone poking the bear.

frick all yall for messing up Jones thread.

I love responses of laughing emoticons, calling people dumbasses, or bitches, idiots, etc. They contribute so much to the conversation.

I'm not in any way saying Harsin is Dabo. But how many years was Dabo solidly mediocre before he broke through? Auburn, right or wrong, would never have given him that much time

Oh really? Mediocre Gus got 8 years and a big contract. Not sure where you get that from. If anything, Auburn is too lenient for mediocre coaches.

Gus was really the exception. Chizik says hello. How long was Tubberville average, on purpose, before we let him go? Bowden?

Chizik was let go for off the field issues. Pretty hard to keep him with that going on. Tubs was basically a carbon copy of Gus, 2 double digit win seasons in a cluster of mediocre seasons. Same for Bowden. All of them got numerous second chances where other schools would’ve fired them in year 4 or sooner.
