I’m just stating what it’s called. I agree, it’s misleading to call it a “dead period” when you can still communicate. Weird.

I know what undeveloped and uncoached 4 and 5 stars look like thanks to Gus. I don't know what coached up and developed 3 and 4 stars look like yet, but it can't be any worse. And I think Harsin and company will get better at recruiting and our boosters will get us up to speed on NIL.

It looked to me that we just didn't have time.. We heard he was a name to watch and that if we offered he would likely commit and then basically the next day he committed elsewhere.
Other than hearing Davis was expected to recruit Slovis we haven't really heard out name mentioned much with any transfers so far. Wease, the Oregon guys, the Cornell OL and the JSU OL are all I can think of.

All we heard is that he entered the portal and that if Auburn offered he would commit. But they didn’t and honestly nobody else really did either. Which is why he’s at UCF

The only answer is that coaches don’t bring kids in during recruiting dead periods and that they’re too late to offer. We have it all figured out

We also know these coaches like to operate under the radar, it seems. So we should be surprised to hear any rumblings until something is close to official.

He was an All Conference selection I believe. We got a transfer o lineman from JSU a few years ago that was decent. Not trying to argue with or contradict anything you said.

Y’all can argue with me I’m not offended. I just doubt they let a guy they wanted go unoffered and sign with UCF
I was intrigued by him. I was surprised that he committed so quickly to UCF but he just wasn’t getting offers

Im with you Jonesy.
Fellas we have quite a few on staff for recruiting specifically, probably divided by geography and position.
They have already reached out to every high school coach (most of these kids, while at college probably still keep contact with their old coach) any, any contact and said, we are in the hunt for these positions.
These kids in turn want to know what might be available before they declare.
Even if we dont know them from previously recruiting, Im fairly certain, on a daily basis, the coaches have a listing of who just entered the portal for a position, a composite of their tape, and someone on our recruiting staff has probably already reached out to them before our coaches have even contacted them.
We passed the point of chewing gum, scratching your nads, and the head coach calling to see if he is interested....about 3 decades ago.
We certainly know these kids, and there is a reason we dont pursue. But hey, we have a locker room full of bodies that arent adding squat to the performance of our team lets just add another kid because he has OL listed beside his name.
And I believe the only reason Perry got a committable offer from bama is because Marvin Jones chose GA which moved Perry up the board. I believe he was honestly considering us, but like many hoping bama would come calling.
