warrant some of auburnnyc’s optimism
Optimism about what? My optimism is about our program in general. I’ve been critical of this roster (mainly the 2 spot) and Traore and Westry’s failure to contribute. My issues with the naysayers are saying things like “the program is in a tailspin” and just whining after every loss like there is no hope. This team has some issues but we have a good opportunity to make the tourney as long as we don’t completely collapse in these last 12. I think we will handle UGA and Ole Miss at home fairly easily.
Other than that, there are no super obvious wins, but this team will compete and find a way to win a few. We need to get to 22 wins to not have to be nervous on selection Sunday.

Flan needs to drive and hit mid range. JWill has the game for both jumpers and mid range. we need these two every night.
Since Memphis, Flan and KD have improved incrementally. Just need to keep working

Flan’s shot was broken as heck on Wednesday night but it was similar to shots he has been taking and making all month. He gets a one game pass from me. We need him

Not gonna be on every night but need 3 of the 4 scoring between Broome, Wen, JWill and Fkan.

After we beat (very) lowly LSU you said we are having another great season. I found that funny as if the games I was watching was only the preview for you.
We were also at odds predicting SEC records.

I think we can pull an upset at home against UT or Bama.
Basketball team can get hot for a home game.
There are more upsets in basketball than football in general.
Traore played decent against Gamecocks, but I did not notice him Wednesday.
Is he hurt?

I guess it’s all relative but I have no complaints about this season. I’ve been watching every hoops season closely since 1997 and hard for me not to see this as another great season as long as we make the tourney.
I’ve even said this team has disappointed me based on preseason expectations but I adjusted my expectations after the Memphis loss. I don’t think this team is a world beater by any stretch of the imagination

5 most likely wins for me from our remaining games (in order):
1. Ole Miss
2. Georgia
3. Missouri
4. @ Vandy
5. UT
Those top 3 are pretty much must wins. Would put us at .500 in conference.

Bruce decided to work Moore in at the backup 4 instead of the 3. This took Traore out of the rotation. I liked the idea in theory for multiple reasons but needless to say it did not pan out well in the game

That Jet guy says Westry’s dad wants Westry at point guard. He said Westry is battling depression as well.

Makes me think Westry gonna be elsewhere next year

I think both Westry and Trahore will be gone.

Weird that we jumped 3 spots in NET last night. Think it’s only because Washington won. Crazy an opponent winning one game can make a 3 spot difference this late in the season.
Edit: nvm, I see USC beat UCLA by double digits at home as well so I’m sure that was a factor

Yes, it's exactly like football. It's a college sport. We get a good coach who performs and we throw millions at him after a good season or two. Yes, I know Bruce has a lifetime contract at Auburn. Bruce made Auburn basketball relevant. Gus got us to the Title game twice and we ended up buying out his contract for $22 million or whatever it was a few years later because we pretty much just started sucking and was owned by our two rivals.
Bruce lack of recruiting guards and the need of having better game plans is already getting hinted at on this board.
Don't get me wrong. I love Coach Pearl. I love what he has done at Auburn. I want him here a long time. He did what we expected him to do.
But there are a few new wrinkles. Alabama is one of the top teams in the country this year. Will probably beat the shite out of us both games.
Now Pearl will begin to be compared to Oats who is performing off the charts this year. That's just the relationship of sports in Alabama.
All I'm saying is maybe cool the jets a bit. Just because we got to the Final4 a few years ago, doesn't mean to throw extra millions to Pearl. Auburn is pretty middle of the road in the SEC right now. Hell, we got waxed at home by aTm last night. Already talk of us not even making the tournament.
Carry on with your homer fanatical talk though and calling people stupid for using logic. Maybe I'm just tired of the message board bullshite. I don't even like talking sports with Auburn fans anymore. Many of you are too much into this shite.
I don't even know which post my initial response was to.. Don't feel like looking back through the thread.
I need a lot more time than I have at the moment to address how dumb this post is.

This is the best post we’ve had in this thread in a week. Thank you Jones.

Are these guys tall point guards Jones?
Posted on 1/27/23 at 9:24 am to RockyMtnTigerWDE
Just saw we got a crystal ball for Tahaad Pettiford. Looks like a very solid point guard for the 2024 class. Nothing about him looks elite to me but seems to be skilled, solid, smart across the board. Definitely an above average shooter. If I had to compare him to a player I have seen in recent years, maybe Kira Lewis?

Read those names from Jones again. Me thinks they aren’t 4 star basketball recruits.
