re: 2022-23 Auburn basketball season thread- 21-13 (10-9) Season over

Yes, it's exactly like football. It's a college sport. We get a good coach who performs and we throw millions at him after a good season or two. Yes, I know Bruce has a lifetime contract at Auburn. Bruce made Auburn basketball relevant. Gus got us to the Title game twice and we ended up buying out his contract for $22 million or whatever it was a few years later because we pretty much just started sucking and was owned by our two rivals.
Bruce lack of recruiting guards and the need of having better game plans is already getting hinted at on this board.
Don't get me wrong. I love Coach Pearl. I love what he has done at Auburn. I want him here a long time. He did what we expected him to do.
But there are a few new wrinkles. Alabama is one of the top teams in the country this year. Will probably beat the shite out of us both games.
Now Pearl will begin to be compared to Oats who is performing off the charts this year. That's just the relationship of sports in Alabama.
All I'm saying is maybe cool the jets a bit. Just because we got to the Final4 a few years ago, doesn't mean to throw extra millions to Pearl. Auburn is pretty middle of the road in the SEC right now. Hell, we got waxed at home by aTm last night. Already talk of us not even making the tournament.
Carry on with your homer fanatical talk though and calling people stupid for using logic. Maybe I'm just tired of the message board bullshite. I don't even like talking sports with Auburn fans anymore. Many of you are too much into this shite.

As has been stated things change quickly in basketball. Where a recruiting class in football could take a couple of years to fully impact a team, a basketball recruiting class can majorly impact a BB season immediately. Way different than football.

Pearl has earned the salary given when you look at the arena being sold out and the national focus that he has brought to Auburn. What he has done for Auburn cannot fully be appreciated with just wins and losses, but he is getting those too.

We have come a long long way, but we aren’t past the point of getting two players for one year and losing them to the NBA. That is hard to plan for..

You’re giving me whiplash about what our goals should be and the state of the program. That Miami team made it to the elite 8. Isn’t that all you care about? Or was it regular seasons? Conference tourney? What are we doing here? Top 8 AP finish and top 12 KenPom finish. Collapse!

The program is in a tailspin at the moment and it's about to get worse with the remaining schedule. We've nosedived since the #1 ranking.
We got beaten in ROUND 1 of the SEC tournament and Miami made us look like a high school team as a #2 seed. We were a fraud and it was a really poor finish.

I know Flanigan is gone after this year I would guess but I haven't noticed him being the issue this season. He's protecting the ball better over the past month. He's never gonna be known for his handles but his defense and physical presence is needed on this team just like CMo's is. Let's look a little deeper into the number other then ok this guy score 14 a game or this guy score 3 points a game.

net rankings we got smoked by last nights loss
we fell from 23 to 33. You get around that 30-40 ranking you are playing with fire of being like a 10-12 seed or possibly a play in game.
That number should get a little better as I expect a&m to beat some teams down the stretch but we can't lose very many more games that aren't quad 1 type games.

We are inept against good teams and kinda suck then, but Bruce usually rebounds well. I imagine Bruce wants to correct why we are inept
We don’t suck enough to warrant Stidham but don’t have the chemistry to warrant some of auburnnyc’s optimism.
We have experienced players that play like freshmen. Freshmen that don’t play. it’s easier to convince me more of the same-o with KD/ Flan than telling me they are about to flip the light switch. How our season is going to go is pretty much laid out there pretty clearly,

Dan was right about what? I’m asking for a reason. I don’t disagree with criticizing the play nor his right to share his opinion on the type of guards Bruce recruits. I do disagree with how Bruce was contracted. I mean he even contradicted himself in some respect on that one.
I also disagree that BB and FB are one in the sane.
