I’d rather have Crowder in McLaughlin’s class than what remains out of the 2020 class.

I can’t get a feel for Chayil. He’s not asked to do much and that team is loaded with talent. They’ve got 5 or 6 guys that are all going to top programs, including Kendall Dennis. They outscored opponents 358-50 in 8 games

Nothing to bet. Most people didn't say he was going to be here at the end of the season. We just pointed out there's nothing to gain by leaving before the end of the season.

Assuming he gets any development from Gus which has yet to happen with any high school signed QB in Gus's tenure. Hell even Bo has regressed under Gus.

How many QBs has Gus signed that didn’t transfer? Just the QBs that transferred in?

I don’t think QBs transferring is unique to Gus. It’s kind of a problem for all schools

The talented ones transfer to start somewhere else and the others stay to be backups. We should also not divert this into a Gus coaching thread if we can There’s plenty of other threads right now that are actively discussing those things

I said that directly. I think it was you who was so convinced that he was not going to leave early and was "communicating with the coaches".

Kids dont communicate. They get emotional and quit. Just like he did. Which is why I was saying we should have been looking for a couple of QB replacements back in the spring when Willis left. We knew Gatewood would go then

We got Chayil a month before Willis left and recruited Haynes King hard until he announced in July. I don’t think we were really in for anyone else in this class.

Depth Chart next season at QB will be:

SO Nix
RsSO Sandberg
FR Garnett

I don’t think another freshman solves the problem. Gotta have a transfer or grad transfer willing to work as a primary backup/starter if Nix is injured.

Depth chart in 2021 will be

Jr Nix (2019)
RsJr Sandberg (2018)
SO Garnett (2020)
FR McLaughlin (2021)
FR TBD (2021)

5* 2021 OT Tommy and 3* 2021 OC James Brockermeyer Will OV to Auburn for the iron bowl.

They’re both Texas legacies but Auburn and Alabama are recruiting them hard

Pretty sure 2021 recruits can't OV til April but glad they are making the trip to UOV.

How come Basketball recruits can get OVs as juniors?

Gus talked to Jacolby Criswell this morning about football and stuff. Dillingham has been talking to Jacolby for while now and they have a good relationship. He was actually Jacolby’s first offer while Dilly was at Memphis.

Jacolby said Dillingham told him a couple weeks ago that if JG left, that he’d be their guy. Jacolby maintains that he’s still committed to UNC and not really keeping options open, but he admits that he’s been looking into the Gatewood situation since the conversation.

He talks up Auburn quite a bit as well. I’m guessing he’d flip.

He’s also good buddies with Zevian Capers.

Different rules for basketball in that regard. They can have 10 total OVs: 5 each in their JR & SR years. Football recruits get 5 total & can't start til just before their JR year ends.

Oh oh...another Ark QB? That's scary, especially on Halloween. How is his passing? Nevermind, it doesn't matter in Gus' development plan. :)

p.s. I noticed he's only a little above 6 ft. tall.

Pouncey’s commitment was a surprise to Texas to begin with. It happened late on like a Tuesday night or something and IR came after our barrage of DB commits. I speculated that he may have been the odd man out

It was definitely an odd commitment. Maybe, much like Trenton Simpson, his recruitment is stabilizing.
