For whatever it’s worth, we melt every year at this time only to end up with the #8-12 class.

The problem is that UGA, LSU, and UA are always in that 1-8 range and it nullifies what would otherwise be great classes for us. Just not sure we’re going to close that gap in any meaningful way.

Below is a quick glimpse of recruiting since Chizik. This list isn’t provided to prove anything. I was just curious what the numbers are

Year - Ranking Avg (Recruit Rating)

2009 - 23 (.8660)
2010 - 06 (.8809)
2011 - 05 (.8958)
2012 - 11 (.9083)
2013 - 10 (.8912)
2014 - 06 (.8878)
2015 - 08 (.9016)
2016 - 09 (.9065)
2017 - 09 (.8934)
2018 - 12 (.9022)
2019 - 11 (.9116)

Interesting how the last two years are the 4th and 1st best avg star ranking respectively. The highest ranked class(2011) is the 7th best in terms of avg star ranking.

Throw TAMU in the mix now with Jimbo killing it and we're in a really bad spot

Off brand take for me:

We’re recruiting at the highest average prospect rating we’ve ever had (past 5 years) Recruiting is not the problem (OL aside). The reality is that we cannot recruit at a high enough level that makes up for the performance gap.

This is because of coaching or scheme. And probably both. We will make runs every few years but our inconsistency on the field will not be fixed by recruiting. It will be fixed by better coaching or scheme. That’s accomplished by either our coaches getting better or Auburn hiring better coaches

Not really fair to compare another team's DC to our WR and OL coach. FTR, Travis Williams can go heads up with any of the guys listed from a recruiting perspective.

I can't imagine Grimes is still on staff this time next year. Gus needs to back the truck up to Pittman and let him eat.

I think he retires after this season. I think he and Gus both thought it was a good idea for him to see through this entire returning OL.

If they’re as good as reporters and players say they are then I’m fine with it. Hope we can get a few more high end guys to sign so we can attract a decent OL coach to step in. Won’t be an attractive situation, though

All an 18 year kid cares about is that he coached in the league, at USC, and coached some pretty damn good qbs.

Once again, all that 18 year old recruit cares about is he coached Jalen Ramsey, Derwin James, and a slew of other draft picks.

Maybe the best recruiter in our league.

All I know is he coached Oline in the NFL for 10+ years. We don't stand a chance sending JB Grimes into a home after that.

That wasn't my intentions. My point was...top to bottom other teams are stacked we are not. We hire former players while other teams hire NFL guys or other guys with P5 backgrounds.

4* LB Jayion McCluster announcing tomorrow. Miami, FSU, AU.

Timing is weird to me. Feels like FSU, but Jayion and Toafili are planning to be in Auburn in June.

Most of those 3 stars being complained about right now will end up 4 stars.

T Will is one of the best recruiters in the SEC and one of the best LB recruiters in the country, Garner's record speaks for itself, Kodi is a good recruiter, McGriff is a really good recruiter, Porter is a good recruiter, Dillingham and Caddy are new so it remains to be seen, but so far so good with those guys... Literally the only coach on staff who isn't a good recruiter is Grimes and we are doing a much better job recruiting OL this year.

Its too early for the woe is me.. at least wait until summer when kids start taking more visits.

Curious to how Louisiana HS coaches think about LSU only taking 4 kids from in state.. Its usually hard to get guys to leave the state, but that could potentially open things up more.

Mark Murphy put in a Javion Cohen CB in favor of Auburn yesterday. USCe insider responded by putting in CB for USCe.

Per KN 4* teammates Jalen Rivers and Chant Williams eliminated Auburn. Thinks it will be UF or UGA

Nug from KN

AU’s biggest threat for 4* OLB Phillip Webb is Alabama. Williams was at his school earlier this week. Webb is #38 in the composite.
