In-state 4-star gets in-depth look at Tigers (247)
quote:

AUBURN, ALABAMA — For 4-star athlete Kristian Story of Lanett (Ala.), Saturday’s visit to Auburn was a productive one.

“Normally when I come it’s for a game, but today I got to see everything,” Story said. “I had a good time.”

Story, who is 6-feet-1, 206 pounds, is the No. 5 recruit in Alabama for the 247Sports Composite. He could play on either side of the ball, quarterback, receiver or defensive back.

“It doesn’t matter to me,” Story said. “Safety or quarterback. Whatever it is that I can do to get on the field that’s what I’m going to do.”

Where do the Tigers project Story, a former Tennessee commit?

“They want me on defense,” Story said. “They told me I’m one of the top guys. We’re going to continue to build a relationship and go from there.”

To date, Auburn has not yet offered.

“They said they wanted to see me live,” Story said. “They’re going to come down in the spring. Some people might look at it as being bad (the Tigers haven’t offered), but I can see it as being good. They might be the only ones that are being real about the situation and are not just offering me because everyone else has.”

At this time, Story claims no leaders.

“I’m planning to visit Notre Dame, LSU and I’m going to try to get down to Texas A&M too,” Story said.

Sounds like AU made a huge move with 4* OL Mitchell Mayes. Made his first trip to Plains & is already planning on coming back. He's 6'4" 305 lbs and could play really anywhere on the OL. Said he thinks AU likes him at OT. Visited with his mom & sister. Arrived Fri morning around 9:30 & stayed until after 6. Focus was mainly on academics & fit at AU. Said highlight was hanging out with Gus & Kristi at lunch. Called Gus a "personable dude" & thought Kristi was hilarious. Said AU is a major factor with him moving forward along with CLEM, UGA, UNC, NCST, OHST& PSU. Plans to commit right now in September

Anderson visits Auburn again, plans to return (Rivals)
quote:

AUBURN | Dutchtown (Ga.) defensive end William Anderson visited Auburn on Saturday. It was the four-star recruit’s third visit to Auburn and a fourth is already in the works.

“Auburn will be one of my officials,” Anderson said. “Auburn is most definitely in my top choices, definitely one school that I’m very interested in.”

One reason for Anderson’s high interest in Auburn is Rodney Garner. The Tigers’ defensive line coach and Anderson have built a relationship over the past two years.

“A great relationship,” Anderson said. “He already feels like my coach. When I came to the camp (last summer), he was working me hard, telling me to do this, telling me what’s right, what’s wrong. I definitely felt that.”

Anderson spent more time with Garner on Saturday. He also met with defensive coordinator Kevin Steele and coach Gus Malzahn.

“They have that family atmosphere,” Anderson said. “I love the football atmosphere. I feel like I can get great academics here, too.”

Auburn also isn’t too far from his home in Hampton.

“It’s only 2.5 hours away,” Anderson said. “So my family can get here if anything happens.”

Anderson plans to take his official visits in the spring and/or summer. He’s on pace to graduate in December, so a commitment will come sooner than later.

In addition to Auburn, Anderson lists Georgia Tech, Florida State and Alabama as schools with which he has high interest.

I haven’t. But as Paw mentioned a few weeks ago - this is the time of year when we have our first good look at the staff’s top targets.

Recruiting sites struggle to keep up with out of state targets until they’re brought up by our commitments, social media, or when they visit campus. I know you know these things but I’m just reiterating for the board at large

I knew of Rosemy but was not aware AU was much of a factor. That was the first time I've even read the name Bryce Gowdy

I know "Kristi is crazy" is a thing but she's legitimately well liked by most everyone that seems to come in contact with her. I know she's loved by current players and recruits. Seen both writers on the 247 & Rivals sites praise her as an asset on recruiting trail because she's great at talking with player's families

Wasn't meant as an insult to you or anyone FWIW. They are the info point men here so I figured they were the best ones to ask. Sorry if I offended you.

I'm joking around with you. I know they're the ones that would have known the answer to your question.

Updated 2nd post

Made some tweaks to target post after recent visitors

Still not sure who AU is really targeting at DB this class. Only Sidney Williams seems like a realistic target at this point. Not a huge surprise given the DB coach changeup but interested to see who becomes a priority back there

Couldn't resist posting the pic, but I meant it literally. By all accounts she's got a lively, likable personality and good sense of humor.

I often wonder what she saw in Gustav - talk about opposites attract

247 officially announced the AU 247/Scout merger so now Mark Murphy & Jason Caldwell fall under the 247 umbrella. Caldwell/Niebuhr is a solid recruiting pair

So apparently should keep an eye on 4* LB Trenton Simpson. He visited this past weekend per KN & apparently is from the area. His dad was stationed at Fort Benning & he became an AU fan during 2010 season, even attended some games. Says AU is recruiting him hard & he's close with T-WILL. Also said he hung out with Cam'Ron Kelly while on visit. Other top teams include UGA, UNC & TEN. Says AU will get an OV in spring & he wants to commit in summer so he can focus on senior year. Has "high interest" in AU & loved that focus on his visit was life off football field. Also apparently T-WILL talked about how last crop of LBs weren't 5*s but were developed

AU seems to be at the top of list for a TON of linebackers right now. Might explain why Riley & Groce haven't jumped on board yet. If AU gets Kennedy, Simpson & Webb by start of fall that would be wild. Could take whomever you want from Groce/Riley/Wheat/Tidsol after that

KN with an interesting note this morning. Says AU made a chance in recent junior days with where recruits arrive. Instead of meeting them at athletic complex, they have them arrive at new recruiting center at Jordan-Hare. Want 1st impression to be the shiny new thing instead of the building everyone thinks needs to be replaced. Coaching staff thinks visual stuff like that matters more these days
