Auburn making push for Georgia tight end (Rivals)
quote:
AUBURN | Tyler Fromm isn’t in a rush to make his college decision, but Auburn wouldn’t mind if he were.
The Tigers made their wish known last Saturday while Fromm visited for A-Day.
“They’d like to get me on board as quickly as they can,” Fromm said. “I could help build the recruiting class.”
Fromm, a tight end recruit from Warner Robins, Ga., is considering it. He’s visited Auburn three times this offseason.
“Auburn is definitely one of my top schools,” Fromm said. “I had a good time (Saturday) talking with the coaches and watching the game. Spring games are to see how the offense is doing and they threw the ball around. That’s what I look for. I saw a lot of great things on the field.”
Fromm also saw a need for someone with his abilities.
“They need a few more guys to throw to,” Fromm said. “They need a tight end to flex out and they don’t have that right now.”
Fromm could fill the need for Auburn, but he’s not ready to make that decision. He plans to take more visits, including a trip to Gainesville, Fla. on Saturday for the Gators’ spring game.
“I’m going to wait it out a little while longer and see how I feel,” Fromm said. “I’m hoping (to make a commitment) sometime during the summer.”

Anybody with Rivals account care to summarize Chad Simmons's article on AU recruiting in GA? Curious if he touches on Owen Pappoe/Wanya Morris
Posted on 4/11/18 at 3:01 pm to TigerPaw1
It's about time Pickens got a jump in the rankings. Fromm has me really interested based on those comments and his jump in the rankings. Have to wonder if we try to get in on Jaydon Hill too after a performance like that and I have no idea why we haven't even offered Mohamoud Diabate. The coaches must feel really good about some other people or know he just doesn't want to come here or something.. nothing else makes sense to me.

That is one of the guys you should pay attention to when he makes picks. Dude works the camp circuit as hard as anyone in the recruiting business and knows what's going on with these kids as well as any national guy. Good dude, too.

Ya that's why it jumped out to me. That would be a huge pull for the Rebels
Side note. Ed O tweeted out his "Hold that Tiger" thing he does when he gets a commitment last night but nothing has come out publicly yet for LSU. LSU beat writers seem to know who it is but don't wanna steal kids thunder. Not sure I've ever seen this long of delay between a HC acknowledging a commitment and kid actually going public

Any cause for concern as Auburn receiver commit George Pickens visits elsewhere? (SECCountry)
quote:
It’s natural for fans to worry about one of their commits, especially one who has has the recruiting trajectory of George Pickens.
The standout wide receiver commit from Hoover, Ala., pledged to Auburn last summer before many other big wigs caught on. Since then, he’s picked up offers from Georgia, LSU, Florida, Florida State, Michigan and several others. Pickens has made it clear he is likely to visit most, if not all, of these schools — many of which he’s already been to this spring.
It has to be nerve-racking as an Auburn fan.
But these offers and visits were something everyone around the Tigers program saw coming.
Pickens’ recruitment has ballooned through the camp circuit this spring. His stock is rising along with his ranking. That’s going to catch the attention of every program in the country when it comes to a 6-foot-5 receiver prospect.
But when I spoke with Pickens last month, he expressed his desire to visit other schools. In fact, when he committed last summer, he made it known it wasn’t a shut-down-the-recruitment decision.
Through all of it, however, Pickens has stayed consistent on his stance as a firm Auburn commitment. He just wants to have his fun and life experience. He deserves that.
On top of all that, few other schools will be able to offer Pickens what the Tigers can. He has a close relationship with wide receivers coach Kodi Burns and loves that Burns knows what it means to be a student-athlete at Auburn. Gus Malzahn and Chip Lindsey both coached his brother, Chris Humes, at Arkansas State and the high school level. The relationships on the Plains will be tough to beat.
And then there’s the friendship with quarterback commit Bo Nix. It’s real. It’s genuine.
It’ll be nearly impossible for a top wide receiver to turn down.

Tight end target Tyler Fromm explains pitch from Auburn after third visit in month span (SECCountry)
quote:
Tyler Fromm explains Auburn’s pitch after third visit
If you’re following the visits for Tyler Fromm, it would lead you to a logical conclusion.
Auburn is serious contender for the Warner Robins, Ga., tight end, who is the younger brother of Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm.
He’s been to the Plains three times in the last month — all in quite different environments. His first was with his parents for the March junior day. Fromm returned a few weeks later for a a solo mid-week visit to spend some 1-on-1 time with Gus Malzahn, offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey and tight ends coach Larry Porter. Last weekend, he made it back with his mother for the A-Day spring game.
It provided him a new outlet to evaluate the Auburn program.
“The spring game, you see how the offense is doing. You see how the whole team is doing, but I was looking at offense. They threw the ball around [Saturday]. That’s what I’m looking for,” Fromm said. “It’s the same thing I’ve always thought [about Auburn]. I just have a really great time with coaches. I saw a lot of great things on the field for A-Day. They just needed a few more guys to throw to. They needed a tight end to place out and throw to and bring him in. I guess they don’t have that right now, and they think I can be it.”
Fromm is one of the three or so tight ends the Tigers are trying add this class. Auburn would prefer to take two tight ends in 2019. Based on the regularity of Fromm’s visits, it’s no surprise he’s near the top of that preference list.
He also knows that means Auburn would like to add him sooner rather than later.
Fromm will continue to take his time, however.
“They want me to get in as early as I can just so I can help build a recruiting class up. I’m just going to wait it out a little bit longer, see how I feel and go from there,” Fromm said. “Whenever I feel is right. I’m hoping some time during the summer.”
South Carolina and Florida are the other SEC teams to keep a close eye on. Fromm will go to Gainesville, Fla., this weekend for the Gators spring game.

KN has VIP article up on 3* DE Colby Wooden this morning, recapping his 3 day visit. Visits has pushed AU to one of the top of his list. Visited with his mom & brother. They got to meet with Gus & Kristi which they enjoyed. His visit to AU was his longest he's taken to a school so far. Communicates equally with Rodney Garner & T-WILL, both of whom are big pieces of his recruitment. AU pitching early PT, good education & of course #Family. Really liked hanging out with players like Derrick Brown, TD Moultry & Big Kat Bryant. Doesn't list any official leaders but KN says watch out for CLEM. Wooden plans to return June 2nd for Big Cat Weekend
