quote:THIS was the year Gus was supposed to go all in on the O line and he should have tried to recruit 5-6 guys. Given, we haven't hit February yet, but most of the good o linemen have already signed their LOI.
Problem is that was a hole lack cycle as well & given struggles up front this past season
No Bueno. No Bueno. No Bueno.

Ya this 2019 class was considered a very strong group which makes the strikeouts this year even more frustrating
Heck there are three top 60 players that play OL in the state of AL this year. We got 0 of em...

Craig Sanders was never recruited as an Olineman. And That list you gave was loaded with 4* and 5* recruits. He brought in guys from Arizona, Texas, and Colorado. Now, we can't even get guys from our own backyard.

Well he’s an OC now so he’s not coming back

I don't believe that Gus is as bad of a coach as most people on this board think, but he will probably get fired next year due mainly to his shitty o line recruiting. Maybe, he should have hired an o line coach that can get these guy to say yes instead of a coach who was already known to not be a very good recruiter.

I don't disagree I was just pointing out he DID recruit more than 5-6 guys
Your other post implied he didn't recruit anybody

That list is full of 4* and 5* guys that didn’t do shite in college. He didn’t know how to scout or develop and he got the guys that fooled the recruiting sites but not the top programs

Actually I think it will since all our rivals now have them stacked like cordwood from the past two years!

If you think Georgia, Alabama, LSU have only been recruiting at the very top for 2 years then you haven’t been paying attention.
They’ll process upperclassmen that aren’t going to see the field and keep loading up.

There was a time like 4-5 years ago that was a thing I believed but sadly it is not true. They will sign more 4-5* OL next year as they will convince those kids they are better than the previous 4-5*s
AU has to start doing better with the guys they do bring in so they can sell the next wave that they will be developed

Like I said, we do not stack them deep and process like our rivals so it's super important for us to identify talent and develop. JB is a fundamentals guy which is great if you're fine tuning 5*s but not sure his evals and developing skills are where they need to be for 3 and 4*s guys.
If you're eval is off on a 3* guy then you risk getting someone that should be playing in the MAC vs a low 4* talent level kid.

FYI turns out that FSU fans REALLY hate Taggart

They should.
My wife actually looked at a job at Clemson. I told her I preferred to stay in this frozen wasteland...
I cannot imagine living in the same proximity as all the Clemson fans.

He's apparently informed the coaching staffs of his decision
