More and more are shutting down. Arizona Western announced last week that this is their last season.
Any reason why?

It’s exteremely expensive... and not anywhere close to self sustaining.

IDK what happened on Haselwood OV but it apparently ended any AU chance. Just just released a top 5 that did not include AU

Lack of funding mainly. My hometown juco of northwest shoals closed down all their sports 7 years ago and they were pretty stout in baseball.

Ya and there hasn't been any word on why
But honestly not like lack of WR talent is the problem right now

Getting Pickens and Haselwood was a pipe dream anyway. With our offense, Pickens signing is a huge win by itself.

Would have loved to get him obviously, but we have way more important needs right now. I think Pickens is better anyway. Imo I think Haselwood signs with Oklahoma.

KN says 4* RB Jamious Griffin likely to OV this weekend. Also says this is a "Gus guy" meaning Malzahn really wants him

Apparently MSST is trying really hard to convince 4* Buck Derick Hall to take an OV there this weekend but as of today still plans to use an unofficial to AU

So "Meh" is a good way to describe how this recruiting class is going? Or should we feel good about it?

I'm not Paw, obviously, but I think all things considered this is a pretty good class. We haven't had any guys decommit so far and assuming everyone stays we are 1 or 2 good O linemen from having a really good class. We are bringing in some really good players and filling some needs though. Any team in the country would love to have a core group of Nix, Pickens, and Pappoe.

Yeah a lot more positive news than I thought. Hopefully we can get Putnam on board

Thanks and that's what I was thinking but here lately the lack of OL recruiting and reading we have backup plans for missing out on backups make it seem like the finish would be weak. Regardless, I'll be very happy if we hang on to the big three.

Not at all
That note actually meant that AU is in a really good place with Derick Hall. He's passing on taking a paid trip to Starkville to come on his own dime to AU. "Kinda tells you where things stand" meaning AU is probably the team to beat
As for class as whole, AU is like 5th in avg rating per recruit which is phenominal. There are some huge targets left AU absolutely has to hit on for a strong finish (William Putnam, Derick Hall, Mark-Antony Richards) but where AU sits right now is really good

Well I totally misread that one... Thanks for the reply!

Paw can you summarize what is being said about Pickens in those paywall articles form Rivals and 247?

Also is Jalen Curry a lock to Penn State or do we still have a shot?
