Turns out Kirby shares all his info with tons of random ppl who in turn tell lots of other random ppl

Also it's now not allowed for UGA to miss on a single prospect even tho they are hitting on like 9 of 10 guys. 100% damnit!

Funny enough..Colby Wooden reminds me a lot of David Marshall who we lost to UGA. Oviously Marshall was a little thicker in high school but the similarities are there.

Interesting nugget from MSST homer on 247. 4* DL Nathan Pickering is apparently still being recruited real hard by AU and UF. Might take OVs to both. Guy doesn't think he flips but he also wrote a book on OM cheating so he's a little homerish

Auburn beats Clemson for Colby Wooden (Rivals)
quote:

Colby Wooden took a long look at Auburn and Clemson before making his decision, but he has decided that he wants to play for the Tigers in the SEC.

The 6-foot-4, 238 pound defensive end out of Lawrenceville (Ga.) Archer always wanted to make his decision before his senior season and that starts tomorrow, so he acheived that.

Wooden actually knew of his decision a couple of months ago.

"Auburn took the lead for me after Big Cat Weekend (June 2) and I realized Auburn was where I wanted to be the next four years. It kind of clicked for me then," said Wooden.

"My mind was made up that weekend. Hanging out with the players, hanging out with the coaching staff, getting to know the families of the coaches and just the overall environment there let me know it was for me."

Leading up to Big Cat Weekend, Clemson held the lead for Wooden. He loved the coaches at Clemson and for a while, Wooden said it was "60-40" Clemson in the lead.

That weekend changed things and Auburn plunged to the top and Wooden has not looked back since.

"I kept it quiet for a while, but I have known. I was a little difficult to keep my decision quiet. People were asking me all the time, but I was not telling anyone.

"It feels great to let it out. I am more relaxed, it feels good to be committed to Auburn and my mom has even noticed me not being stressed anymore.

"I know Auburn is where I want to be and everyone can know that now."

He let the Tiger coaching staff know June 20. He waited a few weeks after Big Cat Weekend to let them in on his decision.

"I called T-Will (Travis Williams) on FaceTime, then he went and got coach G (Rodney Garner) while we were talking, then they went to get coach Gus Malzahn," said Wooden. "I think they knew I was liking them, but they did not know when I was going to commit.

"When I told them about my decision, I saw a sigh of relief in them. I think they knew they got their guy. They was some excitement for sure."

Now that Malzahn has been able to let his BOOM! out after holding it in for almost two months, he can relax knowing Wooden is locked in with the Tigers.

Many prospects commit and still visit other schools; Wooden does not plan to be one of those.

"For me, commitment means I am done," said Wooden. "I am 100-percent committed to Auburn and I am not visiting anywhere else.

"I am ecstatic about my commitment. I had a Mercer offer my freshman year to going to Auburn, so I have worked hard to get here and I couldn't be happier.

"I am going to play for an SEC West program, one of the top schools in the country. It is a big relief for me and I feel so good right now.

"I am not flipping to another school. I am not visiting another school. I am going to Auburn."

D-end Colby Wooden commits to Auburn (247)
quote:

LAWRENCEVILLE, GEORGIA -- Auburn beat out Clemson on Thursday to land a commitment from Colby Wooden, a 3-star defensive end from Archer High, just northeast of Atlanta. Wooden made the announcement at his school with family, teammates and coaches on hand to celebrate the moment with him.

It wasn't a shock that Gus Malzahn's program won out. After all, Auburn had gotten 100 percent of the 247Sports Crystal Ball projections for Wooden.

For Auburn, it's another big pickup along the defensive line, where there is a great need in the 2019 recruiting cycle. The Tigers now have three linemen committed as the 6-feet-4, 240-pound Wooden joins 4-star Jaren Handy and 3-star Jamond Gordon -- both of Mississippi.

Wooden becomes the 14th commitment for Auburn in the 2019 class and his addition bumped the Tigers up to No. 15 in the 247Sports recruiting rankings. They could move up again later in the week. That's because 4-star cornerback target Zion Puckett of Griffin (Ga.) Spalding is set to announce his pick between Auburn, Alabama and Tennessee on Friday evening. The Tigers are his official leader.

What gave Auburn the edge with Wooden?

"Just everything," Wooden said. "I enjoy the atmosphere at the school. I enjoy the coaching staff. I connect with them all very well. I connect with the players, too."

Wooden told 247Sports he silently committed to Auburn during his most recent visit to the school, which was July 28 for the AU BBQ.

Listed as a strong-side end, Wooden recorded 11.5 sacks in 2018. In a scrimmage last week vs. Warner Robins (Ga.), he played only a half, but sacked the quarterback three times and was in the backfield nearly every snap.

In Wooden, Auburn also appears to be getting a solid student. He said he has a 3.5 GPA and plans to major in computer science.

Here’s a look at where things stand with the 2019 class …

-Quarterback: With 4-star recruit Bo Nix of Pinson Valley (Ala.) on board, the Tigers probably are done at this position.

-Running back: Auburn has none committed and could take one or two. Noah Cain of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy is believed to be the top target. The Tigers are a contender, along with LSU and Texas. He plans to officially visit Auburn in the fall.

-Tight end: With two on board -- Luke Deal and Tyler Fromm -- the Tigers are done.

-Receiver: With George Pickens and Ja'Varrius Johnson committed, Auburn still could add one or two more receivers to the class but could stick with just those two.

-Offensive line: Auburn has Keiondre Jones, Justin Osborne and Jakai Clark committed, leaving one or two spots to fill.

-Defensive line: Wooden, Handy and Gordon are the three commits. The Tigers could add two or three more linemen. Defensive tackle LeDarrius Cox, a Tennessee commit from Mobile (Ala.), and buck linebacker/end Derick Hall of Mississippi could be the two closest to joining the class.

-Linebacker: With 5-star Owen Pappoe in the class, the Tigers would like to add two more backers.

-Cornerback: Auburn has one committed (Jaylin Simpson) and could add up to three more. Puckett could jump into the class Friday.

-Safety: Auburn would like one or two here.

-Athlete: Jashawn Sheffield could end up at receiver or defensive back.

Colby Wooden talks commitment and more (247)
quote:

LAWRENCEVILLE, GEORGIA -- With family, coaches, teammates and classmates there to watch, defensive end recruit Colby Wooden of Archer High (Ga.) committed to Auburn over Clemson on Thursday afternoon. For Auburn, it was another big addition to the 2019 class. Despite the fact Wooden holds a 3-star rating, he has long been a priority recruit for Gus Malzahn and Auburn defensive line coach Rodney Garner. It has been assumed Wooden, who said he is 6-feet-4, 241 pounds, would play strong-side end in college. But Wooden said he potentially could play on the other side. In high school, he has shown he can get to the quarterback; he had 11.5 sacks last season. How much Wooden grows moving forward could determine where he ultimately lines up for the Tigers. Why Auburn? "Just a feel and talking to my family and praying, it felt like the right decision to make,” he said. In Garner, Wooden thinks he has found the right person to mold his game in the coming years and get him to the NFL. In fact, he noted, "I feel like he's probably the best defensive line coach in all of college football." For Wooden, his future at Auburn isn’t that far off into the future. He plans to graduate from Archer in December and enroll at Auburn the following month. In this video interview, he talks about his pledge to the Tigers and more.

KN put this up this morning before Wooden's commitment

Auburn Crystal Ball Picks: Love it, Like It, Leave It (247)
quote:

This could be a big week for Auburn football recruiting.

Two major targets --- defensive end Colby Wooden of Lawrenceville (Ga.) Archer and cornerback Zion Puckett of Griffin (Ga.) Spalding -- are set to announce their college commitments and the Tigers might be the team to beat for both. Wooden will reveal his choice Thursday afternoon. Puckett, who calls Auburn his official leader, will do the same a day later. Both of these players are considered priority recruits for the Tigers. Landing them would be significant for that reason.

This summer, Auburn has been rolling on the recruit trail as the Tigers have landed a solid mix of 2019 and 200 recruits.

The 2020 class have five commitments and the No. 4 class rankings. That's far ahead of Auburn's pace for 2019 class a year ago at this time.

As for the 2019 group ... right now, Auburn's class is at No. 16 in the rankings and is poised to move up. A top-10 class seems likely. A top-five class still remains a possibility, but it certainly will take a lot of work from the Tigers. They may need to land another 5-star recruit to get there. Could it happen? Maybe.

All in all, things are going well at most positions.

As we enter the final two weeks of a month-long NCAA dead period, Gus Malzahn's program is in a relatively good spot. At some positions -- see quarterback and tight end -- the Tigers probably are done for this cycle. At almost every other spot, they have at least one recruit committed. It's conceivable the Tigers might have two-thirds of the class committed by Week 1 of the 2018 season.

Meantime, Auburn remains very much in the hunt for several big-time targets. The Tigers might even have a shot at flipping a recruit or two.

Today, we examine some of my Crystal Ball picks for key Auburn targets. I put them into three categories --- Love it, Like it or Leave it.

Love it: This means I feel strongly about the pick and believe I'm on the money unless something drastic happens.

Like it: A notch below "Love it" -- I feel pretty good about the pick and things appear to be trending in the right direction, but it’s recruiting and things can change.

Leave it: We felt good about this pick at the time, but now are unsure. This could be because it's extremely tight at the top, a new team/teams have emerged or the recruiting board may have shifted. Even though my confidence level isn't high, I am leaving the pick where it is.

3-star cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett

My Crystal Ball projection: Auburn

LEAVE IT: The-state cornerback camped at Auburn in June and a few days later the Tigers offered him a scholarship. Later in the week, Pritchett told me the Auburn staff was pushing for a commitment. He named the Tigers his leader but decided to wait to do anything until he visited Auburn again. He has since visited again, but nothing as of yet has happened. Pritchett wants in but Auburn now is being patient. The Tigers have a crowded defensive backs board and are in no rush at the moment. The feeling here is Pritchett still could end up in the class, but it may not be a slam dunk just yet.

Wondering if this kid missed his chance to jump on board. I know there was a week there right after we offered staff pushed hard for him to commit. Since then Cam'Ron Kelly & Jalen Perry have entered the picture

4-star CB/S Zion Puckett

My Crystal Ball projection: Auburn

LOVE IT: After attending Big Cat Weekend at Auburn in early June, 4-star cornerback/safety target Zion Puckett of Griffin (Ga.) Spalding named the Tigers his leader. They have been in the top spot ever since. Puckett will announce his college commitment Friday evening and Auburn is the heavy favorite. Auburn views Puckett as a special athlete and has made him a priority recruit. Thus far that has paid off. With Auburn pushing all the right buttons, I love this pick. Tennessee is second with Alabama in third, but right now all signs point toward Auburn landing this outstanding recruit.

3-star DE Colby Wooden

My Crystal Ball projection: Auburn

LOVE IT: Auburn is believed to feel really good about its chances with 3-star defensive end Colby Wooden of Lawrenceville (Ga) Archer even though Wooden hasn't publicly named a leader. Clemson has recruited at such a strong level in recently cycles, you just can't ever count it out. That said, most of our sources continue to think Auburn is the team to beat. Wooden has visited Auburn multiple times this year including twice this summer. To our knowledge his last trip to Clemson was in April. I like where Auburn is sitting entering his announcement Thursday afternoon.

Solid pick Keith

4-star WR Jalen Curry

My Crystal Ball projection: Auburn

LEAVE IT: The recruitment of 4-star receiver Jalen Curry of Texas already has had some interesting twists. For a few months, we heard little about him. Then, he officially visited the Tigers in June and the chatter grew. After that trip, intel suggested the Tigers were trending up and that Curry had told friends he might pick Auburn. Curry said last week he had no leader, but noted Auburn was up toward the top. Right now, though, I'm just not sure what to think of this pick. He has no commitment date set and Auburn doesn't have to take a third receiver in the class. This could go in any direction. He very well might not end up in the class.

This matches what E posted from Wolk the other day. If we only end up with 2 WRs could take 3 LBs which I know is number that's been thrown around. Or could mean you can take another DB like Pritchett

4-star buck LB Derick Hall

My Crystal Ball projection: Auburn

LIKE IT: The fight for 4-star buck Derick Hall has to be one of the most intriguing recruitments in the 2019 cycle. Auburn likes its chances. But Mississippi State is right there and FSU has made a charge. All of our most recent intel suggests it'll be either Auburn or Mississippi State, but you certainly can't count out the Seminoles just yet and he probably will officially visit them. Hall has visited Auburn four times this year, most recently with his mother, grandmother and sister for Big Cat Weekend. The family feels at home in Auburn -- but also likes Starkville very much. Hall calls Auburn his leader and could have a decision in August. But no date is set.

REALLY would like to get hm on board already
