Ya best guess is Jones pulls trigger early but I am kinda hoping it's someone else....

Doubt it's Booth since he's planning on making visits to both schools one more time. Maybe Hall or Curry?

Best guess is probably Jones tho

Not a 2019 recruit FWIW.

2020 in-state standout Quandarrius Robinson commits to Auburn (247)
quote:

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA — Once Quandarrius Robinson realized which college he wanted to attend, the 2020 defensive standout from Birmingham Jackson-Olin decided to not drag things out over the next year and a half.

Instead, his heart told him to go ahead and make the pledge.

On Monday, the 4-star outside linebacker did just that as he committed to Auburn over programs such as Alabama, LSU and Oregon, all of which also have offered him a scholarship. The 6-feet-4, 210-pound Robinson is the No. 11 recruit in the state of Alabama for the class of 2020 in the industry generated 247Sports Composite.

"I feel like it's the best school to be at," Robinson said. "Because of just the atmoshere and culture of it. It just grabs me."

Robinson is 2020 commitment No. 3 for Auburn. He joins a pair of 4-star recruits from LaGrange (Ga.) Troup County — defensive end Andy Boykin and receiver Kobe Hudson. The Tigers didn’t get 2019 commitment No. 3 until earlier this year, meaning they are well ahead of that pace for the following cycle.

With Robinson’s verbal, Auburn’s 2020 class moved up from No. 11 to No. 7 in the 247Sports class rankings.

This potentially could be a big month for Auburn. This weekend, 2019 4-star offensive guard Keiondre Jones of Hogansville (Ga.) Callaway will announce his decision and Auburn is considered the favorite. The Tigers have 12 commitments for 2019 and the No. 17 class ranking.

Here’s a look at where things stand for the Tigers with the 2019 class …

-Quarterback: With 4-star recruit Bo Nix of Pinson Valley (Ala.) on board, the Tigers probably are done at this position.

-Running back: Auburn has none committed and could take one or two. Noah Cain of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy is believed to be the top target. The Tigers are a contender.

-Tight end: With two on board -- Luke Deal and Tyler Fromm -- the Tigers are done.

-Receiver: With George Pickens and Ja'Varrius Johnson committed, Auburn still could add one or two more receivers to the class.

-Offensive line: Auburn now has Justin Osborne and center Jakai Clark of Grayson (Ga.) committed, leaving two or three spots to fill.

-Defensive line: Ends Jaren Handy and Jamond Gordon are the two commits. The Tigers could add two or three more linemen. Defensive end Colby Wooden of Lawrenceville (Ga.) Archer and buck linebacker/end Derick Hall of Mississippi could be the two closest to joining the class.

-Linebacker: With 5-star Owen Pappoe in the class, the Tigers would like to add two more backers.

-Cornerback: Auburn has one committed (Jaylin Simpson) and could add up to three more.

-Safety: Auburn would like one or two here.

-Athlete: Jashawn Sheffield could end up at receiver or defensive back.

Auburn Nabs Commitment From Top 2020 Edge Rusher (Scout)
quote:

Birmingham, Ala.--One of the top 2020 prospects in Alabama, linebacker/pass rusher Quandarrius Robinson from Jackson-Olin High in Birmingham has had the Auburn Tigers at the top of his list since first getting an offer as a sophomore. Now heading into his junior season, the 6-4, 210-pounder decided to end his recruiting early when he committed to Gus Malzahn’s program on Monday.

Getting his first offer from the Tigers and taking several visits to the Plains since that time, Robinson said that initial interest from Auburn and the hard work from Malzahn, Rodney Garner and Travis Williams has him excited about his future.

“It’s the love,” Robinson said of what stands out about Auburn. “That’s what falls heavy with me. It’s the love and how much they care. If they want you they’re going to let you know. They’re going to sit down and talk with you about anything you want to know about their place. It’s like a welcoming home.”

Following in the footsteps of current Auburn buck linebacker Tadarian Moultry, Robinson played linebacker for the Mustangs last season, but is expected to be a pass rusher in 2018 and that is his likely home when he gets to the Plains. With the frame to add 20-30 more pounds by the time he plays for the Tigers, Robinson should be another good fit at the position for Garner and company.

"My mom's always told me, 'never forget who kissed you first,'" Robinson told 247Sports. "Even though she's a 'Bama fan. They (Auburn) saw something I didn't see in myself. I feel comfortable there, that's the main feeling. You go there and you feel like you're walking into your own house.

"You've got coach T-Will, the hype man, coach (Rodney) Garner with the wisdom, coach (Kevin) Steele, same thing, wisdom. It's just like being home."

Robinson becomes Auburn’s third commitment already for the 2020 class, joining Troup County (Ga.) teammates Kobe Hudson and Andy Boykin.

Charles Cross's junior tape....

He needs a lot of coaching. He will get railroaded in the SEC with that technique. We can't be picky right now though

Like the LB and REALLY hope we don't get that QB. We are in the running for too many talented players right now to be taking a guy who will come in 4th on the depth chart. Also when is the last time a situation worked out where an older guy came back to football and was good.. Brandon Weeden was decent in college, but other than that it just doesn't happen much.

Weinke and Weeden.

It doesn’t happen that much to begin with so I’m not sure, but I don’t see why we would pass. QB is too important not to scoop up whatever talent we can get our hands on. High school QBs have not been our calling card. Give me all of the transfers, JUCO, baseball players we can get

I would say Fla and LSU need a QB way more than we do and they are still only offering him as a walk on.. I have to assume he worked out in some form since he's been away from the game and if they still didn't see enough to offer him a full ride that makes me wonder how much they see in him.

Also not sure why we would use a scholarship if baseball would pay his way. Unless I'm remembering wrong wasn't Deangelo Benton a walk on that baseball paid for? Or did he end up with scholarship too?

That would be Melvin Ray. Tyler Stovall, too.

Not Benton. You’re likely thinking of Melvin Ray.

Not sure about his scholarship status. That’s a good question for Ellitor. There may also be something in play where, even though we don’t offer a scholarship, it’s counted toward our 85. Again, probably need E’s help on that.

Regardless, snatch up talent however it gets to us.

Barton - I imagine we'll be seeing quite a change in the overall Top247 QB rankings after this week's ratings adjustments, correct? Currently, 247 ranks Howell #1, Rattler #4, Nix #8, and Hilinski #9. Assume these guys will make up the new top 4 overall, in some TBD order?
