TE Ryland Goede

AU visit: “I loved it. Every time I get over here it’s exciting seeing all of the coaches and meeting the new staff. I’m just creating those relationships.”

AU using TE more: "They are telling me they’re going to a true tight end now instead of using both H-Backs and tight ends, and they’re telling me I’m their number one guy. That’s big-time. One of the first things I consider in a school is seeing how they would use me. The way he’s (Chip Lindsey) talked to me it seems like they’re going to be using the tight end a ton.”

Auburn and Georgia top two? “No, those were just the first two schools that recruited me. They have kind of a special place in my heart, but no top schools at the moment.”

Auburn: "Very high. I love Auburn a lot.”

Does any recruit ever say Auburn is recruiting them the hardest?

Justyn Ross
quote:

So far, Ross’ closest recruiting relationships are with Auburn wide receiver coach Kodi Burns and Alabama defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley. Those two in-state schools are the programs Ross said continue to recruit him harder than any other program, which confirms what many have believed for a while.

Tyneil Hopper
quote:

"Auburn's a great offer because I've actually known Coach Porter when he was at North Carolina," Hopper said. "He watched me grow up and become who I am today. As soon as he got here, he started recruiting me harder. I really enjoyed that and I really enjoy talking to him.

"(Porter told me to) keep working. He really wants me here and he's going to keep recruiting, recruiting me as hard as he can to make sure I come here."

Gerry Bohanon
quote:

Bohanon doesn’t have an official list of top schools yet, but the Tigers are there. They have recruited him harder than most others and the most recent visit helped do the trick.

That's just a few examples from past few pages. I wish we were after Channing Tindall harder too but there's plenty of targets that talk about AU recruiting them hard. Both 2019 targets Ryland Goede and Keiondre Jones say we are in top groups because we are one of school recruiting them the hardest

Gatewood to face country's No. 1 recruit in opener (247)
quote:

Not only will Auburn and Clemson play each other in September, the quarterbacks committed to those programs will face off a few weeks earlier.

Per Jason Greenberg of The Daily Tribune News, Auburn quarterback commit Joey Gatewood and his Bartram Trail (Fla.) teammates will play Cartersville (Ga.), which includes Clemson quarterback commit Trevor Lawrence, in August.

Lawrence is the No. 1 overall recruit in the country for the 247Sports Composite.

Gatewood carries a 4-star rating and is the No. 1-ranked athlete.

The game will be played Aug. 26 at Weinman Stadium in Cartersville, just north of Atlanta. It's part of a double-header. The first game will feature Heard County (Ga.) and Ohio State quaterback commit Emory Jones vs. an unknown opponent.

For Gatewood, the game vs. Lawrence is a chance to showcase his skills and show he's an elite quarterback recruit.

The game is expected to be aired on national television but details are pending.

Thanks,

I don't understand the Bohanon thing. If we are going to recruit another QB hard why one that is just like Gatewood. Why not bust it for someone more polished like Fields?

I actually agree but not sure why people think Fields is an easy target. Hasn't really visited anyone and seems pretty solid. Emory Jones looks more flippable honestly

Will be curious to see if anymore QB targets emerge moving forward

Stumbled onto this kids film last night. QB DeMarcus Irons who recently transferred to powerhouse Grayson. I think he is gonna blow up late this cycle. Would love for AU to get in on him

my personal theory is that Bohannon can move to another position if he doesn't end up really good at QB and that will make it easier to keep/get Bo Nix in the fold for the '19 class than landing two highly rated dual threat QBs plus already having an impressive (early on) Malik Willis on campus.

I'm not saying it would be easy, especially at this point in the game, but if we came after him hard there would be interest I can assure you.

Nix has to be THE priority. He has things you can not coach.

If he was 6'-04", we would just be counting the days. I don't think it will matter. The kid can throw on the run, accurately, better than anyone out there for the next two years.

Sign BO NIX. Prosper.

If we can't sign Nix we might as well just fold up shop.

Bohanon is way more polished than Gatewood. Bohanon threw for over 2k+ yards as a junior. He's not the typical DT guy you think about. He has great pocket presence and great footwork. Watch his film he has a great base and never leaves the pocket unless it's a design run.

I'm glad the coaches smartened up (probably Chip) and decided to take another guy. There's a reason Gatewood isn't the full time qb for his team. He's just the best athlete on the team so he got put back there. Hell, he even plays rb and returns kickoffs for them. He needs to move to TE day 1 and he could have an awesome career. I'm sure though he'll "have a shot" at qb as Gus likes to say and waste 2 years running the wild cat for us at the goal line before moving to TE or transferring.

Again, we played baseball with him for two years. The kid never went anywhere without an Auburn hat on. They were big Auburn people.

Just perusing 247 for 2019. I thought everyone had nothing but praise for Nix at these recent camps but I noticed he dropped like 40+ spots in the 247.

Any insight on why for those who know more than I do?

Here's what KN said about it

quote:

It's easilly explained.

It's not really a drop.

He made the first top 100 that was put out last year. There were only 100 recruits for 2019 ranked.

147 players have been added to that ... so that top 100 is now a top 247.

His rating actually went up ... The rating is the number ... I believe he went from a 90 to a 91.

Other people, though, who previously had no rating or ranking, jumped him.

Our score attached to him, like I said, went up, per Barton.

If he continues to do well, he'll have a chance to move up in the next 22 months.

When you put out a list the summer after the players' freshmen year, it will always be an incomplete list. That's a flaw, I guess ... but fans clamour for rankings -- and want them earlier and earlier.

So is he a low 4* like a 91 indicates or a borderline 5* like people on here are acting like?
