Chip seems to really like Whitlow at RB.

Even if KJ leaves this year, I am pretty excited about our RBs next year: Shivers, Asa Martin, Miller, Kam Martin and Devan Barrett. If KJ comes back, we will pretty much be an elite unit.
There are 2 things I know about RBs in the Gus Malzahn era
1.) One of those backs will turn into a beast
2.) We will bitch about the rest of the backs not getting enough carries
I feel confident those 2 things will happen in 2018

I find it tough to be excited about that group considering they have what 30 career carries combined between them all

I think he is going to surprise a lot of people.

You not being excited about them makes me excited about them

I feel the same. But I've also never really worried about RBs with Malzahn. It's kind of plug and play.
We didn't think that much of Mason before he got carries. We didn't think that much about Pettway before he got carries. Same with CAP.

So sounds like things aren't over either for 4* OT Dylan Wonnum. He's not gonna sign early & Michael Harris told KN he doesn't think he's a lock to SCAR & AU has a shot. Plans to take an OV to AU in January. Something to watch in January
I mean we gotta get one of these 4* OTs right?

If I remember how GM ran his offense and who he put in at RB even when he was our OC, he would start off with dividing between 2 backs early in the season, but at the meat of the SEC schedule, he would settle on one RB as his horse.
It seemed that way with Mason, CAP, BArber/CAP/Grant and even as far back as 2010 he used Dyer, Fannin, Eric Smith (remember him?) and Onterrio on jet sweeps...

Random note. Former AU target & FSU commit 4* WR Marquez Ezzard just got a ton of CBs to Ole Miss. That dude is a stud & him joining Matt Corral would be quite the pull for a school facing all those NCAA penalties. That recruitment has been a weird one. Was once a top target for both AU & UGA but both schools ended up finding better options & he committed to FSU. Then he decommitted & has kinda been all over the place since then
Reminds me of a more polished Marquis McClain coming out of high school

Wiltfong flipped his CB back to Mississippi State for Carvin. He's heard it's either State or Tennessee at this point
Would not be shocked to see Goss commit tomorrow unless staff wants to wait on some of those bigger names in January

People keep forgetting about Whitlow. Fella is quick, fast, good hands out of the backfield and he was already 215lbs last year, he could be that surprise back like Pettway was.
I say we get Wonnum, Barnes, and Gouraige and call it a day. We dont need a TE, hell our TE is usually a tackle anyway, might as well recruit one to play the position. We can teach them to catch 2 passes a season which is the norm for the position anyway. Heck Tega was a TE in high school, we are set just recruit the three tackles and forget the TE.

FYI that's not gonna happen but yes that would be the best case scenario

That's how he's always done it.
(Eric Smith was an H-back btw)
He's got one workhorse running back and one jet sweep guy. That's going to be it midway through the season as far as carries go

The next stud back will be Barrett, Martin, or Whitlow

Just noticed Quindarious Monday's senior highlights are up. Warning, NSFW for those who love rangy safeties smacking the hell out of WRs

That bodes very well for Auburn.

Exactly what I thought when I heard that.
