Are you our new resident film evaluator?

The only film I saw was what TigerPaw linked. Then I clicked on the profile and saw he runs a 4.59 40. Not hard to figure out, but there could be plenty of factors I don't know about which is why I want to find out more. I look at film for most of our recruits, I figured most people here did too?

Jesus dude

40s are more about practice and technique than pure speed.

Using these as proof a HS SO is slow is silly.

They are also notoriously inaccurate on profiles.

Plus the kid is a SO, so a 4.59 would actually be a solid time for someone that young. He will likely run track the next few years which will help with technique.

Well he's got offers from AU, Bama, Ohio State, Florida etc... as a sophomore but I'm gonna need to wait until I hear jt33's opinion before I know how to feel about this.

There's no doubt Jackson lacks that elite top end speed but he's plenty fast enough to be effective. He's 6'0" 195 lbs as a sophomore in high school. Dude is probably gonna play around 6'1" 215+ lbs in college. That's a big back. With kids like that I am more concerned about lateral quickness than ability to outrun defenders in the open field. He moves really well for his size, is a very patient runner and does not go down on first contact. Also love that there's not wasted movement in his running style. No unnecessary jukes or spin moves, he just follows his blocks, finds some open field and busts loose

He's going to be a highly rated RB in the 2020 class

So something interesting. Pruitt visited 3* OL Jerome Carvin & convinced him to come visit Tennessee instead of Florida this weekend. He's expected to sign early. I think Pruitt offered his teammate at RB as well. Will be interesting to see how this plays out

247 article on 3* CB Roger McCreary who AU offered yesterday. Apparently he spoke with Kevin Steele some on Monday then Travis Williams called & offered Tuesday. Plans to take an OV to AU on January 12th. His recruitment is picking up as both Alabama & Tennessee want him to visit in January as well. Neither have offered yet. Plans to OV to Bama on January 19th & Tennessee on January 26th. Claims he is still committed to South Alabama

Looks a little like Le'Veon Bell in how he runs. No problem if he turned into half the talent Bell became. He wasn't very fast either.

Catching up on some articles that have been posted recently

Alabama-Mississippi All-Stars: Miss. St commit sets Auburn visit (Rivals)
quote:

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Could Auburn be getting ready to make a run at Nate Watson? The Tiger legacy (Nephew of former Tommie Agee) recently had a sit-down meeting with his recruiter, defensive coordinator Kevin Steele and an official visit has been scheduled.

The Tigers definitely have his attention.

"Coach Steele came by last week and we sat down and talked for a while," said Watson. "He talked to me about how they have a new plan and that they want to get me down there.

"I have always liked Auburn, so I have interest in them and I will taking an official visit there January 12. They are a school that could give me something to think about, but I am still committed right now."

The three-star wide receiver out of Maplesville (Ala.) is committed to Mississippi State. He has been since mid August.

With a recent coaching change in Starkville, that could give Auburn an opening to get back in the race. So far, Watson hasn't budged.

"I don't really have any thoughts on the coaching change. Coach [Joe] Moorhead will just put his system in, see what players they have for it and then we will just see how it goes.

"The new coaches are basically saying the same type of stuff that the old staff was to me. They came by to see me last week and nothing has really changed. They want me, they want to get the ball to me and everything is going pretty good."

Joe Moorhead reached out to Watson Monday as he was on the way to the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game check-in. It is the second time the two have talked over the phone.

"He sounds like a good man and I am looking forward to meeting him," said Watson. "He loves basketball and we have talked about playing one-on-one when I get down there, so he seems cool."

An official visit to Mississippi State has not been scheduled yet, but it will take place in January. Auburn has climbed back in this race though and if Watson changed his mind, he's sure it would be to play on the Plains.

"I want to get down Mississippi State, meet the new coaches and get to know them better right now. That is what I need.

"If I change my mind, then it will be to Auburn. That is the only other school I am talking to right now."

Watson plans to sign February 7, 2018

Georgia RB commits to Auburn (Rivals)
quote:

Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson running back Deondre Jackson recently saw a couple of teammates in his class (2020) commit to Alabama and Georgia and he is ready to put his name on a commitment list too.

He picked up an offer from Auburn less than a week ago and he has committed to the Tigers.

"I told coach [Terry] Porter tonight that I wanted to commit to Auburn," said Jackson. "I committed to them because I like the program and coaches a lot. They have also had various good backs come out of the program and it is close to home.

"I visited there in the spring and I like the vibe they have down there. It is great."

Some may wonder why Jackson is committing so early in the recruiting process. He recently added an offer from Ohio State and Maryland offered him earlier today, but he just feels he knows where he wants to be in the future.

"Well why wait," Jackson said when asked about the timing of his commitment. "Auburn is the school I feel can help me most growing as an student-athlete and I can already see myself putting on that Auburn uniform."

Jackson is the second 2020 prospect to commit to Auburn. Lagrange (Ga.) Troup County defensive lineman Andy Boykin was first.

Alabama-Mississippi All-Stars: Takeaways from Day 1 (Rivals)
quote:

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Day No. 1 of practice at this year’s Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic is in the books. Day No. 1 one brought standout performances and recruiting news on both sides and the storylines to watch throughout the week are beginning to develop. Below are five observations from the first day of workouts.

MISSISSIPPI STATE COMMIT SHINES BUT MAY NOT SIGN

Malik Heath was one of the most impressive players on the first day of practice. He was also one of the loudest. Heath impressed in one-one-one work and let everyone without an earshot hear about his triumphs. He certainly outperformed his national ranking of 200. That much is clear. What isn’t so clear is if he’ll sign with the Bulldogs during the early signing period.

Heath says that he has not decided whether or not to make things official in December, as he continues to mull possible visits to Florida and Ole Miss among other schools. Heath has changed his tune on the subject a number of times, but said on Tuesday that he does not intend to sign until February but also worked in the caveat that things on that front could “change next week.”

“I don’t want to sign early because I want to be able to live my last high school year out,” Heath said. “I plan on visiting Florida in January, too. I just want to live my high school life and go to my last prom and all that. Then I can worry about signing in February.” - Cassidy

ALABAMA LEGACY HAS BIG DAY

Kevontae’ Ruggs looks the part of a Power Five linebacker and shined during both practices on Tuesday. Ruggs, whose older brother Henry plays wide receiver for Alabama, continues to add weight and is starting to see the recruiting momentum to match. He has an official scheduled to Ole Miss for January and is also considering offers from a number of programs including Louisville, West Virginia, Florida Atlantic and Maryland.

Should Alabama push for his commitment, the Tide would be the heavy favorite. As things stand now, however, Ruggs is not a priority target for the home school. This will likely make things interesting down the stretch. - Cassidy

SURPRISE OF THE DAY

Center Cameron Hill arrived in Hattiesburg without much fanfare. He carries an unassuming offer list that consists of schools like Massachusetts, Bowling Green and Alcorn State. He played like a major prospect on Tuesday, however, as he rarely lost a rep during one-on-ones.

Hill is a bit shorter than would be ideal, but it’s hard to argue with the results, as he handed a number of defensive tackles with Power Five offers. Hill could shine at a lower-level major conference schools or a high-end Group of Five program. - Cassidy

ONE WHO COULD EMERGE THIS WEEK

Car'Damien Daniels is a long and rangy defensive back out of Birmingham (Ala.) Homewood who is committed to Memphis. He may end up with another Tigers, but we will get to that a little later. On Tuesday, Daniels stood out from the beginning of practice. From the defensive back drills to 7-on-7 — Daniels impressed. He showed great closing speed and he could be one who could see his stock as a recruit improve this week.

Speaking of recruiting — keep an eye on the Auburn Tigers. Rodney Garner recently checked in on him and Daniels is scheduled to take an official visit to Auburn in January. No offer yet, but one could be coming and if so, Daniels may go from a Memphis Tiger to an Auburn Tiger. - Simmons

ALABAMA OL GETS NASTY

Marcus “Tank” Jenkins is known for his aggression and his tenacity on the football and although it was shorts and shoulder pads on Tuesday, he flashed that. He had a few takedowns on day one, a couple could be called pancake blocks. He was impressive during the team work. He was strong in the one-on-one session too. He worked at tackle most of the time, but he is a guard long term. There is a lot of Louisville buzz down here around him, but Ole Miss and Oklahoma are right there too. Don’t rule Auburn completely out just yet either. - Simmons

AL-MS Game: OL vs DL (Day 1 - Alabama)

FYI they have Jalen Cunningham listed as Coynis Miller in the video. Stutts is going to have to get stronger. Jenkins looked good. The AL DL sucks

AL-MS Game: WR vs DB (Day 1 - Alabama)

JaKorey Hawkins kinda sucks... I see why AU hasn't pushed for him. Williams has a long ways to go as a route runner but looks real smooth at his size. Ross looked the most polished of the bunch. Jackson is a smooth runner. Nate Watson is a giant. Wonder if we are looking at him at TE

Alabama defense is gonna struggle Saturday I think from watching these 2 videos

Early Signing Period: Biggest question for each SEC team (Rivals)
quote:

AUBURN: How many will sign?

?The biggest storyline for Auburn is how many of its 18 commitments will sign. Eight are early enrollees, so that leaves 10 who could either sign or wait. Right now, most of the 10 have said they will sign early, but two that remain big questions marks are Coynis Miller and Matthew Hill. Auburn, like most staffs, are pushing their commits to sign, so this is something we will track.
