Park Crossing, with Auburn targets Cam Taylor and Tank Jenkins, fell to Opelika 27-21 to end its season. Taylor put on an impressive performance in the loss. Despite a pair of fumbles, Taylor threw for 102 yards and rushed for 143, including a 23-yard touchdown pass and an 8-yard rushing score. Even on one of Taylor’s fumbles, his athleticism showed itself, losing the ball on the 1-yard line following a 49-yard quarterback scramble.

Auburn running back commit Asa Martin proved his two-way ability Friday night when he lined up at cornerback for most of the game. As a result, he only received 8 offensive touches for Austin in its 42-35 victory over Shades Valley. That didn’t stop Martin from excelling. Two of his touches went for touchdowns — a 32-yard run and a 21-yard reception. With the win, the Martin-led Austin squad will face off against Bo Nix and Pinson Valley in the 6A quarterfinals next week.

That’s because Pinson Valley cruised to a 41-13 win over Ramsay. Bo Nix tossed 4 touchdowns passes with 291 yards. He hit six different receivers, most notably LiAllen Dalley, who caught 3 of Nix’s touchdown passes, including a 63-yard strike. Pinson Valley at Austin will be the game to watch for Auburn fans in a classic matchup between running back commit and potential quarterback of the future.

If you are in the area, highly recommend attending this game

Mobile Christian defensive end — and major Auburn target — Andres Fox sacked the opposing quarterback on Gordo’s opening possession of the game that thwarted the only realistic scoring chance of the game. The Fox-led defense hasn’t allowed a point in the 3A playoffs yet this season. Mobile Christian will play Clarke County next week.

Auburn targets in Georgia high school state playoffs

Auburn wide receiver commit Matthew Hill did what he usually does in Brookwood’s second-round win over Milton. He carried the ball 7 times for 78 yards, including a 70-yard run that set up a goal-line score. He also caught 3 passes for 75 yards, helping his team move on to the 7A state quarterfinals against Tift County next weekend.

Quindarious Monday, the top Auburn safety commit, did everything for Carver in its victory over Flowery Branch. He caught 5 passes for 54 yards and 1 touchdown. Monday also had in interception in his team’s playoff win. Carver will host Jones County this Friday.

Thomson and Americus-Sumter played an overtime nail biter that came down to a missed Americus-Sumter extra point in overtime. That means Auburn’s newest commit, Christian Tutt will move onto the state semifinals where Thomson avoided Clemson quarterback commit Trevor Lawrence thanks to an upset by Blessed Trinity. In Thomson’s win, Christian Tutt rushed the ball 6 times for 53 yards and 2 touchdowns. Tutt had 39 return yards in the game.

Still pumped we snagged this dude. I think he eventually ends up starting at nickel spot

Auburn targets in Florida high school state playoffs

Auburn quarterback commit Joey Gatewood captained Bartram Trail to a 49-21 victory over Lincoln. He completed all 6 of his pass attempts for a total of 27 yards. Gatewood did most of his damage on the ground, rushing 13 times for 107 yards and 2 touchdowns — one for a 54-yard score. Batram Trail will face Fleming Island next week in the 6A quarterfinals. Gatewood rushed for 183 yards and threw for 88 yards with 2 total touchdowns in Bartram Trail’s regular-season victory over Fleming Island.

American Heritage might be the team to beat in the 5A state playoffs, and it proved why against Bishop Moore over the weekend. Auburn wide receiver target Anthony Schwartz caught 4 passes for 114 yards, the last of which was a 82-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to secure the victory. He had another long touchdown reception called back earlier in the game for a penalty unrelated to him. American Heritage will face Cardinal Gibbons on Friday.

Auburn running back commit Shaun Shivers led his Chaminade-Madonna Prep team to a 56-0 victory against Benjamin. He rushed for 152 yards and 3 touchdowns on — wait for it — only 7 carries. Shivers broke two long touchdowns runs for 59 yards and 57 yards. His other touchdown came from 18 yards out. Chaminade-Madonna will play Clearwater Central Catholic next week.

Terrible view of Shivers long TD run

Really excited to see his senior highlight tape. Dude has been unstoppable at end of season

Sounds like Parker will get a blue shirt at Bama meaning he doesn't count against the 85 roster limit until fall camp

He's come a long way from last year but will still need some work. He's just such a better athlete than everyone that he's asked to do more on the ground than through the air majority of the time. Remember he also rotates every other series with another D1 prospect

Per KNs post this morning it sounds like we'll hit the JUCO ranks for a TE. Staff isn't thrilled over Hooper's size (6'2)

I'm a little disappointed as I really like Hopper but it's clear we have a prototype of what we want at TE

KN posted update on 4* Jarren Williams. Says both sides are looking elsewhere. Sounds like Miami knocked his visit out of park & AU feels like they are making a move on 4* Ohio State commit Emory Jones. KN says as of now very unlikely Williams visits. Jones is expected at Iron Bowl

Jones is interesting. Bama is hard after him but also had Corral on campus this past weekend. I will say I would be shocked if we actually were able to sign both Emory Jones & Joey Gatewood at QB. That would be an insane QB combo

KN did hint good news is coming this week. Probably Jibunor

I've seen him play in person several times. He will be the starter in two years, after Stidham leaves. No doubt in my mind (unless Nix comes in and is just phenomenal). He looks like he's toying with the other team when he plays. That's why I wasn't too bothered about Fields going to thUGA.

Agreed

Really wish he wasn't rotating series so we could have seen him go blow for blow with Trevor Lawrence earlier this year. If Gatewood can consistently complete the quick passes & be accurate enough downfield he will be a monster in our offense. I expect we see more of the interior QB runs with him like Cam. Key is he has to hit those shots deep

Really hoping the 2019 preseason talk is all about a QB battle between Willis, Gatewood & Nix

KN also says AU really likes 3* ATH Cam Taylor just not sure what position he would play at next level. Says name to keep an eye on

Could end up being a CB target if we can't land the dream combo of Smith & Joseph
