KN says AU is still recruiting 4* QB Brevin White who is currently committed to Princeton. He will probably visit AU in November. His brother played for Lindsey at Arizona State. AJ Curry has also emerged as a target that Lindsey will evaluate. UNC is also after White while MSST is also looking at Curry

Why are we so pressed to take another QB this cycle?

We would only have 3 QBs on roster in 2018 which isn't really ideal. There's also the chance that if Stidham finishes strong he thinks about jumping to NFL. I don't think he will but it's something to consider. Seems like Lindsey wants another QB to feel comfortable with depth for the future

You really trust Gus' eval and development if high school QBs to just take one?

I don't like taking a recruit just because. Curry is in game 5 as a QB. In his life. This other kid is listed at 6'2". So he is probably 6' in cleats.

I don't think that's the plan. If they don't actually like any of these kids they won't just take one just cuz. Sounds as if they would LIKE to take another if possible & if they find someone they think is worth taking

So was Malik Willis this time last year. Curry doesn't have an offer yet, they are still evaluating

I am not a huge Brevin White fan either. He's a solid player but his size concerns me too

I haven't watched film on the kid so idk if he's good or not but why do people still think size is a make it or break it factor for qbs. There have been loads of successful qbs from 5'11" to 6'2" including the all time ncaa qbr leader and super bowl champion, a Heisman trophy winner, and a great dual threat that led us to a national championship appearance. That line of thinking is antiquated and holds no merit anymore.

Stidham is not declaring for the draft this year.

I don't know why people still insist on saying that. Not close to being ready. Not getting after you, I know even writers are still saying it, but at this point, ain't happenin'!

Regardless, we need two qbs in this class... We are one play away from playing a true freshman at qb this season... and behind that there’s nothing.

It's unlikely but not impossible. The NFL gets stupid when it comes to QBs and Stidham has all the tools scouts love. He continues to play at a high level, he could very well rise on team's boards and end up being drafted early

Again I am not saying he's leaving but I don't completely dismiss the notion

Well my opinion on him comes from fact I have actually watched film on him

His size isn't the sole reason either. However, I don't like idea of a smaller gunslinger in our system. If he was a true dual threat guy then I wouldn't have mentioned it.

I just don't think he's a great fit for our scheme

That kid the Bears took at #2 last year is a prime example.

Yup. The top QB prospects haven't really lit it up either this fall. I hope and think Stidham will be back but there's always a chance he goes because a few teams fall in love

I'm not a fan of having 4 scholarship QBs, but to each his own I guess.

Personally, I don't feel passionately about 3 vs 4 QBs and would be fine with us not taking another guy this year.

However, considering how Gus has been burned in the past due to having insufficient depth at the QB spot, I think you will see AU try & keep 4 guys on roster. That's my guess at least

Considering the system (qb run heavy at times) and Gus’s struggles at developing HS qbs, I think he needs 4 on scholarship, with one guy redshirting pretty consistently.

Auburn ‘in great shape’ for top offensive line target Trey Hill after yet another game visit (SECCountry)
quote:

Top OL target Trey Hill puts Auburn ‘in great shape’

AUBURN, Ala. — For the second time this season, Trey Hill visited Auburn for a home game.

It’s reached the point with the No. 2 guard in the nation that the Tigers no longer can be publicly ignored in the race for Hill. Georgia has always been in the picture, but it’s been Florida State, Clemson and others who have received most of the alternative buzz for Hill throughout his recruitment.

No longer.

Hill’s number of visits to the Plains help tell the story. The Tigers might be the biggest threat to the Bulldogs, though — as much as Hill reveals — nobody can be counted out at this time.

“They’re in great shape. It’s just a matter of time where I want to land and when I want to commit,” Hill said. ”

Hill visited Auburn for the Georgia Southern game, and he was back for the win against Ole Miss.

From Week 1 to Week 6, Hill notes major improvements along the offensive line and with play-calling.

“They look much better than the Southern game from a simple fact they ran the ball more this game than the Southern game. They’re coming along with the throwing and all that,” Hill said. “That’s very important to see them score points and put them up on the board. That’s huge.”

So Hill has been at Auburn a lot, but what makes the Tigers a true factor?

For the first time really, Hill made it quite clear why. Hill watched the offensive line much more closely this most recent week compared to the last visit. And, with the restructured unit, Hill noted something quite important for an incoming freshman.

The Tigers line is filled with seniors — including two on the interior — which, especially compared to Georgia, gives him a much greater chance of seeing the field early at Auburn.

“From my perspective this time, I’ve seen what all they’ve really got — four seniors on the line, all of them are leaving next year. That would put me in a good position,” Hill said. “That’s very big, just to see where I can be on the field my first year.”

On top of that, Hill cites “the family atmosphere” as Auburn’s primary advantage right now, if he were to choose the Tigers over other programs.

Hill hasn’t given a timeline of when that could be. He’s an early enrollee, so there isn’t much time between now and then, but Hill isn’t tipping his hand.

Hill is likely to take a few official visits before deciding. Those will go to schools he doesn’t get the chance to visit regularly (in other words, not Auburn and Georgia). So far, Southern Cal is the only one planned, but he mentioned LSU and Ohio State as other possibilities.

Don’t expect Hill to narrow down a list of schools or set a commit date. Rather, he said he plans to, one day, “just go ahead and commit.”

Auburn’s commits made it clear they want him on the Plains.

“They’re just like, this is where it’s at. It’s a family atmosphere. It’s home,” Hill said. “It’s important because they obviously want me here.”

Honestly think we get this kid unless our season goes belly up (always a possibility). UGA tried selling him on idea of playing center to get on field early and not sure he likes that. AU can easily say there's an opportunity at one guard spot with Braden Smith leaving
