KN says AU is after former LSU CB Savion Smith who is now at Mississippi Gulf Coast (where Newkirk plays). I think Bama is the team to beat right now

I know some of ya'll don't care but Antwuan Jackson just committed to Ohio State. Glad not Bama because that would be the most AU thing for him to go there and have like 4 sacks against us

I'd just be pissed they actually got him to put some effort in athletically.

SIAP but here's JLee's WarRoom from Friday. Been working a lot lately so sorry it's 4 days late.

-UGA may actually be #3 for Trey Hill behind AU & FSU
-AU leads per sources close to Trey & lead could be tough to overcome
-Plans to commit in December

-LSU likely passes AU for Juco OT Badara Traore after he OVs there, if they haven't passed AU yet

-AU leads for 4* OT Dylan Wonnum per a family member (& DW himself in a couple interviews)
-Not keen on following his brother's footsteps at SC
-Wants to make his own path
-Would like to end recruitment ASAP, possibly by October

-3* TE Michael Parker will commit to AU or Bama soon
-Bama told MP they will eval his 1st 3 games & decide on whether to offer or not
-If Bama offer he'll pick them
-If not then AU
-Definite take for AU

Commitment Watch

-Jibunor: Visited Tennessee last Saturday & will visit UF this Saturday
-Barring a change he will commit to AU in late September or early October
-Recruited solely as a Buck End

-Wonnum: See above on him

-Michael Parker: See above on him

Quick Hitter

-AU is tracking 3* LB Caleb Johnson from Columbus, Ga this season to see how he progresses

Tega actually didn't do that horribly. It wasn't a good game, but considering Clemson's DE ability, CLEM jumping 75+% of snaps and AU's cruddy pass game, it was a reasonable performance for a guy in his 2nd start

Darius James can EAD. He blew

Yep. I can't fathom a guy practicing as much as they do, and still not being able to grasp bending at your knees instead of at the waist.

He has some plays where you think "Man he could be great"

Then next play, it looks like he is trying to give EAMC some more experience putting a person in a body cast

Not sure what game you were watching but Tega sucks. In both games he's given up like 7 sacks. I'm sure he's athletic and all like people say but he's getting whipped right now.

Here's a good breakdown with all the sacks. I honestly don't blame the line as much as I do the coaches for not having better / quicker plays for the pass rush. And Pettway should never out for a pass again. To slow and never even got his head turned around before the sacks. Just leave him in the backfield to block.

For a guy who is in his 2nd game vs a future top 15 pick who is jumping every single snap? Having only 3 QB Hurries + Sacks isn't bad. That is what Lawson did to Laremy Tunsil

Ferguson blames 1 more QB hurry on Tega (Sack 1) which is him blaming Tega when it was Mike Horton's fault. Tega actually did great on the play

Yea, Tega really didn't play awful considering. When the DE is in a sprinter's stance and able to tee off almost every snap with a pretty obvious pass or run play call, to do what he did was pretty good.

Stidham was taking 11 yard drops and not stepping up in the pocket when Bryant was speed rushing the edge too. Cole Cubelic even said that the QB needs to step up and the OL isn't fully at fault

Bryant wasn't getting around the edge of the pocket, Stidham wasn't even in the pocket

1. That first sack is on the receivers. Nobody got open. Stidham had time.

2. That play was just a cluster all around. If Stidham could have dumped it off to Pettway though he had like 6 blockers in front of him with only 1 defender on the screen.

3. Yea Braden just got whooped

4. Stidham, could have easily thrown it away.

5. Play looked messed up with a receiver faking a bubble screen but Stidham never even looking at him to sell the fake. Wanogho got beat pretty bad anyway.

6. All the routes sucked and Stidham again could have gotten rid of it.

7. OL had like six guys blocking three on one side and 2 blocking 3 on the other. Not smart. Not sure what the logic is for sliding the protection to the left when all the receivers were on the right.

From the behind angle though you can see the receiver breaking open on a post with no safety over top and Stidham could have seen that and let it go rather than just pulling it down and taking a sack on 4th down.

8. Wanogho got beat, still could have thrown it away rather than just run out of bounds.

9. Good defense against the screen, again Stidham could have gotten rid of it.

10. Meh, good blitz no one open. No one's fault really.

11. 3rd and 20 just throw it long worst that can happen is an INT same as a punt.

Tega wasn't Mike Remmers in the superbowl here, getting his lunch money stolen on every play surviving only by holding + false starts

For a converted DE playing OT in his 2nd start against a RD1 NFL DE, he did at worse what you'd expect and probably better than you should expect

Are you the same guy that posts all of those videos on twitter analyzing the various plays? If so, those are golden. You really have quite the way of explaining all that to us simpletons.

Alright, time to shake off the funk of last Saturday night and get rolling again. We going 14-1 and getting everybody. Posibarner turned back on

Top 2019 CB target says Auburn, another SEC school stand out early in process (SECCountry)
quote:

2019 cornerback says Auburn standing out

When it’s time to start focusing on the Class of 2019, Jalen Alexander will be a good place to start for Auburn.

The 3-star cornerback from Grayson High (Ga.) isn’t in a rush. As he puts it, he’s “being patient with everything” as he waits for more offers. Alexander has a lengthy offer sheet already: Auburn, South Carolina, Oregon State, Cincinnati, Michigan State, Kentucky, Syracuse, Iowa State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Louisville, Wisconsin, Florida Atlantic, Wake Forest and Indiana.

Based on his communication with Ohio State and Clemson, he thinks offers could eventually come from those two programs, as well.

But for now, it’s two SEC schools that are emerging, even though it’s early in the process.

“I’m just weighing all my options right now, but I do like Auburn and South Carolina,” Alexander told SEC Country. “But I’m just waiting to see what else I get.”

Alexander visited Auburn for the opener against Georgia Southern. It was the second time Alexander has been on the Plains since April. Most of his contact with the Tigers goes through his area recruiter, linebackers coach Travis Williams, though he’s starting to form a relationship with defensive backs coach Greg Brown.

It hasn’t taken long from Alexander to recognize the family feel, which is a big reason why Auburn has emerged from the pack.

“They tell me they’re really interested in me. They want me to be patient, keep working. And then, of course, come to Auburn,” Alexander said. “Auburn, their coaches are really about family. They really care for the players. I just love the feel when I come down. It’s a great atmosphere.”

Alexander played in the same 7-on-7 defensive backfield as Auburn safety commit Quindarious Monday. Those two are “very close together,” Alexander says, but Monday hasn’t pushed Auburn on him much. In the spring, it was actually Monday who suggested I reach out to Alexander because he knew how interested the 2019 cornerback was in the Tigers.

Alexander won’t rush.

He doesn’t have a plan for when he’ll set a decision. It could be this fall. It could be next fall. That’s what the next few months will be about for Alexander while he hopes to land a few more offers to give him all his options.

I will point out: I’ve put my Crystal Ball pick in way in advance. I think Alexander ends up with the Tigers, but that’s most likely a long way from happening.

Alexander is ranked the No. 45 cornerback in the 2019 class and the No. 469 player overall.

I like Alexander despite his lower rating. Got really long arms. Plays on a loaded Grayson team and could help us with Owen Pappoe

Top linebacker doesn’t commit as planned

The curious case of Zakoby McClain continues.

I spoke with McClain, a 4-star linebacker from Valdosta, Ga., last week. He said a few things of importance. His plan was to commit on Sept. 9. It was likely to coincide wth an unofficial visit to LSU, so it made sense that McClain — whose cousin plays football at Tulane — would end up in Baton Rouge.

Sept. 9 has come and gone without a commitment. When I reached out to McClain about his altered plans, he confirmed that he didn’t commit anywhere (as we already knew) and that he didn’t have a new plan set in place. Regardless, he never made it to LSU for that visit.

Last week, it came to my attention that Auburn, as a source put it, “hasn’t been talking much” to McClain recently. With the strange LSU twist, Crystal Ball picks have been flocking in for West Virginia, a school he visited this summer and a place where one of his high school teammates is committed.

I’m not ready to rule out Auburn at this time. He called the Tigers his No. 1 when he visited in the spring, but he has no-showed on a couple of visits since then. Auburn likely will approach other options first, but McClain could become a secondary plan now that the LSU situation seems to have added its own roadblock.

Someone really needs to help this dude out. He's a baller but he's gonna end up outside the SEC because he sucks at communicating. Would still take him in a heartbeat because I think T-WILL could give him the structure he needs and he's a perfect fit for the SAM/Money spot in our scheme

No. 3 center plans visit to Auburn

I can confirm one prospect who will be at Auburn-Mercer: Louis Paul Smith.

The 6-foot-3, 295-pound offensive lineman is ranked the No. 3 center in the Class of 2019, which puts him at No. 689 among overall prospects. He doesn’t hold an offer yet, but as I pointed out last week, Auburn is showing Smith an unordinary amount of recruiting attention.

Smith has a long-standing relationship with offensive line coach Herb Hand. He announced Monday that he’ll be in Auburn this weekend for the game.

It’s unknown when or if the Tigers will offer Smith, but Auburn’s efforts — at least with sending mail to him — seem to say it’s on the verge of offering. For now, Smith’s offers are from Mississippi State, Troy, Southern Miss, Nicholls State, Louisiana-Monroe and Kentucky Christian.

The minute this dude gets an offer I suspect he commits
