KN put up an insider on 3* DE Kayode Oladele. After talking with Oladele and sources close to him he decided to put in a CB for Oladele to AU. He talks a bunch with Prince Tega Wanogho & Prince Sammons. Like Jibunor looks up to them both. Likes Garner's track record for putting guys into the NFL. He has a top 5 of AU/FSU/UGA/TEN/OM but looks like AU is recruiting him the hardest. FSU doesn't appear to be pushing as hard (he was committed to them at one time) since they already have a few "project" DEs. There might be some academic concerns due to fact he is from another country and that's a common problem so something to monitor. But putting all that together KN thinks AU is the team to beat right now

Both Jibunor and Oladele will probably need some time to develop. However, it looks like they should get that time. AU has no senior DL and Newkirk is a guy that will be ready to go day 1 plus you got guys like Big Kat, Moultry and Truesdell all getting reps this year. Those 2 guys can come in and probably redshirt, put on some weight and learn how to properly play the positions (ala Prince Tega) and be ready to contribute in 2019 when we really need DL ready

Will be interesting to see if the AU High to Bama or the Nigerian to AU pipeline is stronger.

If he is a future pro bowler, we should keep an eye out on Troy as a darkhorse

Frick LSU we need to take McClain and Foucha. We got the spots what's the problem?!

As already said on ZM his indecisiveness made AU back off & reevaluate the LB position. AU could have viewed it as playing unnecessary games.

On Foucha we have 4 Safeties in the class. No need to take him there. Evaluating him at CB. May only take 1 CB and that would be McMichael as of now if we can flip him.

And not necessarily sure there will be room for those guys pending on what happens at other positions since they aren't takes right now. As of now the staff plans to take 23-24. There may only be room for 1 more LB and CB in the end. Others are higher on the board at each position.

I understand the issues but both of these guys look like players. Two of the "safeties" will almost definitely never play a meaningful snap at Auburn. Worth the risk. Rather get them than some backup plan late.

Valid points. But remember. Through the Jr year does not a good recruit make. There are some SRs who are good but may not shine or get known til their last season. If you aren't sold on a couple kids no point taking them now when you can find others you like as much if not better.

The McClain stuff just sucks. He's a baller and a perfect fit for our Money (strongside OLB) spot. Him and Michael Harris would be all we need in this year's LB class. However, I understand completely why coaching staff moved on. At some point in time it becomes clear a recruit isn't actually serious about you. Especially during the season there's such limited time to recruit kids you have to spend it wisely and if a dude keeps telling you he's going to come only to not come and then starts favoring a school he's never visited, you have to move on. But ya, I will be salty watching him ball out for LSU. Won't hold against coaching staff tho

I think Fuqua will surprise you as a safety prospect. Marsh I am just not sure about yet but supposedly is a freak athlete. I didn't think Jordyn Peters would touch the field as a freshman but is already getting work this year. Marsh's recruitment is similarish to his. Dude no one is spending time recruiting on then comes to camp and wows. I do however agree that Foucha is worth the risk. I am really high on him and think he could do a lot of the same stuff we have Daniel Thomas do which is splitting time between safety and nickel. I know numbers are a bit tight but he's worth a spot in my amatuer opinion

I do wonder though if coaching staff is feeling like they are in a better spot for one of JJ Peterson/Quay Walker/Channing Tindall than we realize. There's also a ton of smoke around Kyler McMichael. Like the Tank Jenkins situation, it could be a case where guys missed their windows in the evaluation stage and now we are trending up for some our guys at the top of the board. If we land say Quay Walker and Kyler McMichael all of a sudden I am not concerned at all about McClain or Foucha

Interested to see how it all plays out. This game Saturday could play a large role

Auburn commit Josh Marsh expected to return from injury tonight (AL.com)
quote:

Decatur senior linebacker Josh Marsh will play tonight against archrival Austin, Red Raiders coach Jere Adcock said.

Marsh, an Auburn commitment, sat out last week's 38-28, season-opening loss at Huntsville to nurse a knee injury.

Austin (2-0) is ranked No. 1 in Class 6A. Marsh's future teammate at Auburn, Black Bears running back Asa Martin, has already run for 359 yards and seven touchdowns.

Marsh led the state with 206 tackles in 12 games last season. He ran for two touchdowns in Decatur's 37-35, triple-overtime loss to Austin last season.

Excited to see how he does. Like I said before, I don't really know how I feel about this dude just yet. Very interested to see what he does his senior year

Asa Martin, Matthew Hill describe new ‘home’ feeling in first return to Auburn since committing (SECCountry)

quote:

Auburn feels ‘more like home’ to Asa Martin now

AUBURN, Ala. — In his first return to the Plains, Asa Martin was much more recognizable.

The many Auburn fans who aren’t dialed into the recruiting scene still know the face of the top running back who spurned Alabama for the Tigers. Everywhere he went on his first return visit, he was pointed out by someone wearing orange and blue.

It even further validated Martin’s choice.

“It felt good, man,” Martin said. “It felt even more like home, me being back and committed. I heard people yelling my name and saying ‘War Eagle.’ It just felt great.”

Martin also received a front-row ticket for the new-look Chip Lindsey offense. Admittedly, little changed — at least against Georgia Southern — but Martin liked the way multiple running backs got involved in the offense.

And despite the rust, Martin looks forward to seeing what Jarrett Stidham can do for an improved passing game.

“Very impressed. Auburn’s known for running the ball anyways. The passing game, it takes time, so it’s not anything to worry about. It did look the way I expected it to,” Martin said. “Offense looked really good [last Saturday]. They ran the football really well. There were a bunch of backs. Kam Martin, Kerryon, Malik got in a little bit, Devan Barrett. They ran the ball really well, and I liked that.”

Martin spent most of his time with close friend and 4-star defensive tackle Coynis Miller. He also flashed his recruiter skills with 2020 wide receiver Dazalin Worsham. But Martin said most of his efforts as a recruiter last Saturday centered around 4-star offensive guard Trey Hill.

Hill didn’t reveal much to Martin, but there were some positive vibes there.

“I talked to Trey Hill just to try to get some offensive linemen, you know,” Martin said. “He’s kinda quiet. He doesn’t give too much feedback. He just kinda smiles, but I think that’s a good sign.”

Despite Martin’s commitment, he’ll likely be asked until he signs whether or not Alabama still has a chance. He admitted he’s “still hear from Alabama quite a bit” since committing to Auburn a couple weeks ago, but Martin chose not to go into much detail on that front.

The early enrollee gave a diplomatic response about potential visits to Tuscaloosa or elsewhere.

“I’m committed to Auburn, so I’m not sure,” Martin said. “Everything when I committed, it’s still the same.”

Auburn WR commit: ‘This is home now’

Home again, home again.

That’s the feeling Matthew Hill had as he sat in the recruiting section of Jordan-Hare Stadium just before kickoff against Georgia Southern last weekend. It was his first time on campus since committing to Auburn over South Carolina and Alabama.

He felt alive.

“This is home now,” Hill said. “I can officially say this is home.”

As he watched the Week 1 matchup, Hill closely watched the passing game to see if he saw improvements from a season ago.

There were some hiccups, but he liked what he saw. Hill was impressed by Jarrett Stidham’s ability to put the ball on the money after a rusty first quarter. He didn’t realize Stidham was as mobile as he was, which caught Hill’s eye, as well.

All in all, Hill enjoyed what he saw.

“I saw improvement on the offensive side of the ball, and the defense is just outstanding,” Hill said. “[Stidham] did a good job. A few good passes. Good in the run game. Good job scrambling outside the pocket. He had a few passes that should’ve been caught. Other than that, it was a good game.”

Hill didn’t do much recruiting at the game specifically, but he’s doing his part regardless.

In fact, an argument can be made that Hill’s doing the toughest work in the Class of 2018. He’s one of Auburn’s only commits with a strong relationship with 5-star quarterback Justin Fields. That’s where Hill puts his recruiting emphasis.

“You know, I still need Justin Fields to go ahead and commit,” Hill said. “I text him once or twice a week, just a War Eagle.”

Hill hopes to return for the Mercer game in two weeks. He hasn’t decided yet whether he’ll enroll early. If Hill takes more recruiting visits, it’ll just be his official visits to the top 5 of Auburn, Alabama, South Carolina, LSU and Florida.
