your argument doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me if you think Barrett is one but Roc was not. They had very similar builds and skill sets coming out of HS. If a 5* composite RB is not a "true rb", then we are just living on different planets
Fair enough, I actually don't know enough about Barrett to be making that claim but I guess time will tell.
Roc was never a between the tackles RB and it was pretty evident from the first couple of times he carried a football. He only wanted to bounce everything outside and do multiple spin moves on every run. He would have been a good change of pace, 3rd down, jet sweet type of player but not a 25 carry a game between the tackles horse like a real RB would be.

But like others said we're doing fine without that type back so i'm not complaining.
We're doing fine sure, but imagine an elite talent getting the opportunities our guys have been getting. That's a whole new dimension.

quote:Our rushing stats overall does not support this idea.
Why are these mutually exclusive ideas? Perhaps the RBs we recruit are not very talented, thus they can't do anything when they get here. Perhaps it is a symptom of poor scouting.

Coynis Miller says 2 stand out (247)
Sounds like if he hadn't taken that Florida visit he would have committed. Gators doing some work on the trail right now. Still like where we stand tho
If we do in fact land Justyn Ross, Coynis Miller and Seth Williams that would be a hell of an instate victory for this staff even counting losing out on Jalyn Armour-Davis and probably Asa Martin
quote:
According to 4-star defensive tackle Coynis Miller of Birmingham (Ala.) Jackson-Olin, two programs stand out at the moment.
"Really, Florida and Auburn have my most interest right now, just from having a great relationship with all the coaches there," Miller said in an interview posted via Twitter by Rick Karle of WBRC FOX6 in Birmingham, Ala.
That nugget isn't a huge surprise, as we have reported for awhile now to keep an eye on the Gators, which Miller visited in late July.
The other piece of news from that interview: Miller said he might not have a commitment decision until "sometime after the season." At one time, he wanted to announce in August.
The other teams in his top five: Alabama, Louisville and Oregon. From that group, the Tide is the one to watch.
The 6-feet-1.5, 300-pound Miller is the No. 16 tackle and No. 166 overall recruit nationally in the industry generated 247Sports Composite.
At this time, the 247Sports Crystal Ball predicts Miller to Auburn. The Tigers are getting 62 percent of the media picks.

How in the world is Oladele getting CBs to Ole freaking Miss? They don't even have a coach and we have all the Nigerians and a huge need.

In lue of providing full info to the board FWIW JLee says Pierce was never the #1 RB on the board. Keith has been saying DP & Asa were Co #1s. JLee says DP was high & a priority but not #1. He says Asa is & has been #1 the whole time & it showed during the cookout a couple weeks ago. He also says he doesn't think the staff would not have taken DPs commitment before Asa decides in 2 weeks from today. If true then I disagree with the coaches. I could see it being possibly true though given Chip wants to Marshall Faulk his RBs as receivers.

Meanwhile Saban is laughing with Asa's commitment in hand.

I hope our coaches aren't as dumb as our insiders make them sound sometimes.

Top defensive line target Coynis Miller says Auburn among 2 teams standing out (SECCountry)
quote:
Alabama missing from Coynis Miller’s top 2
It was only a 32-second video, but Coynis Miller managed to catch us up to speed with several intriguing topics.
In an interview with Rick Karle of WBRC FOX6 in Birmingham, Ala., Miller made a few public comments about his recruitment: how many schools still have a chance, a timeline for the decision, the two programs standing out and his relationship with Tadarian Moultry.
Miller has it down to a final 5 of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Oregon and Louisville, but for the first time, to my knowledge, Miller said two programs are sticking out — and one is definitely new.
Much to my surprise, Miller said Auburn and Florida are the two in the best position.
“Really, Florida and Auburn have my most interest right now, just from having a great relationship with all the coaches there,” Miller told Karle.
Auburn has believed it was in a good position for a while. But to leave Alabama out of that top 2 was a little bit of a surprise. Miller grew up a Crimson Tide fan and he’s a major want for Alabama. The Florida factor will be an interesting one to watch. He’s only visited once, and that came recently, but the Gators clearly left an impression.
Another intriguing part is Miller’s other proclamation.
“I’ll probably make a decision sometime after the season,” Miller said.
Dating back to the spring, that was Miller’s timeline. But he decided to move it up in recent months. It appears his most recent visit to Florida made him reconsider things, which, on the surface, may seem detrimental to the Tigers.
But Miller is a perfect case of someone who, if Auburn has a strong 2017 season, will land in the Tigers’ class.
The fact he didn’t mention Alabama should offer more peace than the entrance of Florida does concern.
