My guess is we tell Bishop he will stick at QB instead of the "start at QB, see how it goes" pitch and then hope that Joey Gatewood is everything advertised

pretty decent list.

Personally, I'm higher on Woody Barrett's long term abilities than most, I guess. I think he's a big time talent. I usually look at what schools want QBs and that is important....and the fact that Urban wanted him when he was deciding is a big deal, to me.

Barrett could be good and I am far from a QB expert but I have never really bought into him as the future. Part of it was we had Narcisse for awhile and I think he would be a monster in Gus's system.

I will say Barrett has the size to run that inside veer stuff that we did with Cam. Personally I just like Mond & Narcisse more and thought either would beat him out. But like I said I am not exactly the greatest talent scout

As for rest of targets I think we could get Perry if we pushed. Miami has another QB committed who is a pro style guy in Mark Richt's scheme. No idea though who would move to top of the list as I know we have talked more to Toney recently. I think Cunningham is underrated. Not as good as Mond or Nacrisse but is a very good athlete in his own right and Petrino knows QBs

With all that said let's hope all this Aggie stuff is bluster and Mond picks the good guys (for GenesChin that's AU ). I will feel a lot better about QB situation having Barrett/Mond and then Barrett/Mond/Gatewood QB battles next 2 years then any of those other 4 guys I listed. I think Bishop would be wasted as a QB personally

Also LSU 247 now reporting Jhamon Ausbon has eliminated AU and is down to A&M/LSU. Pretty sure the Baylor cleanup dream is about dead....

On the positive side of things I think this bodes well with us for Jeremiah Holloman & Tray Bishop. But still would suck to miss out on Mond/Ausbon/Jones

On tape, my personal eval/comp of him is JT Barrett (no relation). Woody is a little bigger in the legs but very similar build and throwing motion. I think Woody has a SLIGHTLY stronger arm, however JT is more elusive.

Woody Barrett seems to be the perfect fit as a QB to pair with a guy like Kerryon Johnson. A bulkier power runner mixed with a finesse back

I wish he enrolled early

KN says sounds like Kellen Mond will announce next Wednesday. He is hearing that AU still feels good about it's chances but I get the feeling closer to this announcement he will change his tune ala Markail Benton

Also free slideshow on expected #'s by position. For the lazy here's what it looks like

QB: 1
RB: 2-3
FB: possibly 1
TE: 1
WR: 3
OL: 5
DE: 2-3
DT: 1-2 (enjoy Brannigan )
LB: 4
CB: 2-3
S: 2
ST: TBD (we are recruiting Carlson's lil bro who is #2 K according to Kohls)

ditto.

I seriously think he could've made a run at this thing. But the more I keep hearing about the QB race the more I think JF3 ends up the guy. My buddy who worked the QB camp recently mentioned JF3 a lot.

To elaborate on the KN slideshow..

We're only taking 1 QB. Obviously want Mond but if we miss expect to turn up the heat on Lowell Narcisse

We have 2 RBs committed but both are "athletes" We would take 1 more and maybe a "fullback" Devan Barrett is the name to watch

TE - Tre McKitty is a leaning AU but Oregon won't make it easy

WR - 3 Brandon Martin (Juco) will be 1 staff wants him to commit already

OL - Have 2 tackles committed would take 1 more tackle and then 2 interior guys. Nick Brahms could commit anytime

LB - Have 2 committed would like 2 more of Rice, Britt, and Ignot

Can't remember the rest

Also update from KN on Coe & Character

Nick Coe
- He got the SAT grade he needed now he must finish with A in his summer course. He had A at midterm so just needs to hold that. His class ends either today or tomorrow so should know about him soon

Marlon Character
- He had an ACT score flagged so had to retake it. Still waiting on results. Just to be safe he is also enrolled in a summer course. Unlike Coe he just needs to either get a good enough score or make A on summer course

It sounds like both will make it but Character is a bit more up in the air

Hopefully he can keep that A. He seems to be a stud that everyone wanted. Alabama board talked about how they were hard after him even with the potential grade issue

Idk, he isn't too friendly to Auburn right now. Probably would lock in a 89.4 rounded down to a B to spite us

KN gave update on Mond situation. No breaking news just kind of laid out the positives/negatives for each school and how their family sees them

Auburn
Pros: System fit, very comfortable with staff
Cons: Distance. If the other team was equally as far wouldn't make a difference but Aggies much closer to home

Aggies
Pros: Aggie network in Texas. It sounds like that this weighs heavily. A&M pitching hard that lots of opportunities after football open up for him in the state if he goes to A&M
Cons: Not a very strong relationship with new OC

Basically if all things were even and this was a football decision Mond goes AU. However, the Aggie network in Texas plays a very large role especially for his parents. They love AU's staff and think he is perfect fit but being much closer to home and having lots of opportunities outside of football in Texas looms large.

His parents have given blessing for him to choose either school. The target date is next Thursday. KN thinks coaching staff might learn this weekend. He doesn't know really which he chooses but says that you can't ignore the smoke coming out of the A&M camp

I think the rah rah Texas pitch is going to beat out the come be the next Nick Marshall/Cam Newton pitch as of now. It honestly sounds like if this was only about football he would already be in our camp but it isn't and that's what wins out in the end

I also have to think seeing that Jhamon has suddenly dropped us points also to fact that Mond is heading to Aggieland. Who knows though maybe the appeal of playing in Gus's system outweighs the stay home pitch

I imagine that is part of the "concerns" they have had that A&M has been working hard on smoothing over in recent weeks
