Every recruiting thread we've ever had has had next years recruiting info in it until a few days after NSD when next years thread gets made.

Doesn't mean a hill of beans to me. If the big cat is before signing weekend, we should change it up. JS

Kind of disturbing that you would notice that........not that there is anything wrong with it.

3* JUCO OL Matthew Tanner just left. No commitment today. Says very likely commits tomorrow if all goes as planned. Not sure if that means we told him to wait or he just wants to go home and think it through first

It should if you're accusing him of posting that info to cover up bad news

AU's director of player personnel tweeted this image which he calls the "boom signal". I'm guessing Shenker committed

Update from SECCountry of Benjamin Wolk on Tanner
quote:

He hasn't committed yet. That decision is likely to come tomorrow. He is waiting to finalize some paperwork, etc., but said it's "very likely" Auburn is his choice. Tanner is choosing between Auburn, Mississippi State and Bowling Green.

KN has update on 3* DT Tyrone Truesdell. Says nothing will happen with him today but some close to him think grades should be good. Staff told him they like him and will be in contact with him over the coming days. KN thinks backup plan for Bryant or Johnson

BREAKING: Auburn adds Georgia tight end prospect who played for Rush Propst (SECCountry)
quote:

Chip Lindsey’s first offer also turned out to be his first commitment.

Auburn extended an offer to 3-star tight end John Samuel Shenker on Monday, just two days after announcing Lindsey as the new offensive coordinator. Shenker opted to take an official visit to Auburn this weekend and said beforehand Auburn had a solid chance to land him over Wake Forest, Western Kentucky and FAU.

The Tigers sealed the deal Sunday. Shenker committed to Auburn to become the 20th commitment in the 2017 class.

Shenker played his senior season at Colquitt County (Ga.), the home of former Hoover (Ala.) coach Rush Propst. Propst’s connection to Lindsey stems from their Hoover days when Lindsey served as offensive coordinator on Propst’s staff.

Lindsey targeted Shenker immediately after last week’s official visit weekend in a calculated move to secure a tight end rather than a fullback for the team’s H-back role.

The commitment bring Shenker’s recruitment full circle. Shenker committed to the Tigers as a sophomore, but as a baseball player. Shenker decided to stick to football during his junior year and forced him to de-commit from Auburn.

A year and a half later, he has landed at his dream school.

“Well it’s kind of funny that it happened this way,” Shenker said earlier this week. “Oh, I was so happy (about the offer). It’s a great school. It’s the school I always wanted to go to when I was a young little boy. It was a great feeling. … I didn’t think it would happen as a football player.”

With the new commitment, Auburn remains at No. 10 in the team recruiting rankings, but the Tigers close some ground on No. 9 Texas A&M.

Shenker is the No. 95 tight end in the nation, though the addition might end up bringing more value as an H-back blocking type. Salvatore Cannella will likely be the pass-catching figure at tight end in the 2017 class.

That lines up with Shneker’s role at the high school level.

“He said he thought I was a guy who could do a lot of different things. I can block down the field. I can block and be an H-back. I can be a tight end. They can split me out, so that what he’s looking for,” Shenker said before the visit. “I’m more of a H-back blocker. During my high school career, I’m mostly doing motion stuff at H-back. I’m more in the trenches.”

Tigers get commitment from tight end Shenker (247)
quote:

Less than 48 hours after Chip Lindsey was hired as Auburn’s offensive coordinator, he offered John Samuel Shenker a scholarship.

Six days later, Shenker has committed to the Tigers.

The 3-star tight end/h-back from Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County gave his verbal to Gus Malzahn on Sunday during his official visit with the program.

The 6-feet-3, 245-pound Shenker is the No. 96 tight end nationally in the industry generated 247Sports Composite. As senior, he caught 30 passes for 451 yards and two touchdowns.

Shenker is commitment No. 20 for Auburn.

He’s now the second tight end in the 2017 class, joining January enrollee Salvatore Cannella — formerly of Scottsdale (Ariz.) Community College.

“I’ve always liked them,” Shenker said. “Since I was young I’ve gone to their games. It’s only two hours away. I’ve always grown up watching them.”

At one time, Shenker actually was an Auburn baseball commitment.

Now, though, he's focused on football.

Why do I need hearing it is then? It's obviously a big premier junior day. Might as well not delay the inevitable and make a new thread.

People don't want it that way. Most like one recruiting thread and there's usually not really enough info about next years class until after NSD

Louisville's 247 site reporting Averett is gonna stick with the Cardinals. No update from AU side yet on whether we passed on him or he just turned us down

There is more than enough information from this weekend alone to start it off. Stop with the BS.
