Scout released their final top 300 as well. AU guys overall did well though I think it's crazy they don't have Moultry as a top 100 guy and that Britt isn't even in the top 300. Here's where our guys stand now

#34 Calvin Ashley
#114 Tadarrian Moultry
#164 Devan Barrett
#194 Austin Troxell
#203 Nick Brahms
#214 Alaric Williams
#275 Noah Igbinoghene
#282 Malik Willis

Here's our top targets

#7 Devon Hunter
#68 Jarez Parks
#75 Henry Ruggs
#149 Markaviest Bryant
#210 Ryan Johnson
#216 Oliver Martin
#244 Thomas Johnston
#247 Tyler Taylor

I think all the sites have released final rankings now so 247 composite should get updated soon. I think Ashley will retain his composite 5* but Moultry didn't get enough to earn one especially with ESPN's terrible ranking

Did he come on big time this year or what? I remember over the summer seeing him from Montgomery and not having even heard him mentioned before and wasn't there talk not that long ago about bama not even having room for him?
Blew up his Jr. Year. It was the 1st year he ever plated football & he torched every team they played, kickoffs & catches.

Special Athlete. Just not sure I can put a slot WR as the #1 WR in a class.

Auburn in-state connection has made mark on 2017 recruiting class (SECCountry)
quote:

There’s a possibility — with the help of 20-20 hindsight — that Auburn is experiencing something quite similar to what Georgia recruits did at the U.S. Army Bowl, just on a smaller scale. The Alabama-Mississippi all-star game took place in December, and at the time, there were five Auburn commits in the game: Tadarian Moultry, KJ Britt, Malcolm Askew, Jordyn Peters and Noah Igbinoghene.

Since the game, Alec Jackson joined the participants in the all-star game who intend to enroll at Auburn. He said, in retrospect, that experience played a major part in his expedited commitment.

“K.J. Britt, he was always in my ear. He was saying, ‘You might as well come to Auburn.’ I was like, ehh. I already knew I was probably coming here anyway,” Jackson said after his official visit Sunday. “To visit other colleges is great. To have that experience to visit other places is great, because I’m probably never going to be able to do that again. But everything started to settle down for me and now I’m just ready to sit down and sign something.”

That Alabama-Mississippi game trend might not stop with Jackson.

Four other players from that Alabama team have been connected to Auburn: Thomas Johnston, Ryan Johnson, Henry Ruggs and Marlon Williams.

Gus Malzahn visits Joey Gatewood’s high school same day Texas offers (SECCountry)
quote:

Want a look into the life of the No. 3 dual-threat quarterback in the country? Wednesday provided an applicable example.

Auburn 2018 quarterback commit Joey Gatewood started his day with an offer, one of the few Power 5 programs that hasn’t offered him. Gatewood is the 51st-ranked overall prospect in the country for the 2018 class. He somewhat surprisingly committed to the Tigers on Dec. 5, 2015. In the days since Rhett Lashlee’s departure, Gatewood has been a popular topic.

The Longhorns offer reiterated the point. Texas became the 33rd reported offer for Gatewood. You name a school — unless it’s Alabama, Georgia or Oregon — and it has probably offered Gatewood a scholarship, whether it be at quarterback or multi-purpose athlete.

Gus Malzahn knows the importance of Gatewood to the 2018 class, so he is doing everything he can to ensure his longest commitment from that class remains. Coaches aren’t able to meet with players from the junior class right now, but Malzahn swung by Bartram Trail (Fla.) with Herb Hand to make his presence felt the same day Tom Herman extended an offer.

Gatewood’s recruitment has a long way to go, and he will have his eyes pressed on the offensive coordinator hire. But the Tigers have done a strong job stabilizing Gatewood despite the departure of the person he was closest with at Auburn. Gatewood will be in Auburn next weekend for the school’s junior day event, which will include several stop 2018 prospects.

After official visit to Auburn, Alec Jackson 'ready to sit down and sign' (AL.com)
quote:

Following his official visit to Auburn last weekend, Alec Jackson is eager to get on the Plains and begin his college career.

"I always wanted to play for Auburn," said the defensive tackle at Jeff Davis in Montgomery. "It's a dream of mine. To see my dream almost coming true is just overwhelming."

Jackson committed to Auburn on Christmas Day over finalists Florida, Ole Miss and Southern Cal. He said he felt "at home" on the Plains last weekend as he got to see more of the campus.

"They welcomed me with open arms," Jackson said. "I chilled with the players, met some new guys I hadn't seen before... Finally going deeper into the campus, Auburn is a really big school. Especially the engineering part of the campus. They're still doing a lot of building out there. It was just a great experience seeing all the things that Auburn has to offer."

6 Auburn commits make final Top247 (247)
quote:

Auburn has six commitments in the final Top247, which was released by 247Sports on Wednesday.

They are …

No. 18 (5-stars): Linebacker Tadarian Moultry, Birmingham (Ala.) Jackson-Olin

No. 25 (5-stars): Offensive tackle Calvin Ashley, Washington (D.C.) St. Johns College High

No. 97 (4-stars): Offensive guard Nick Brahms, Navarre (Fla.)

No. 129 (4-stars): Offensive tackle Austin Troxell, Madison Academy (Ala.)

No. 212 (4-stars): Running back Devan Barrett, Tampa Catholic (Fla.)

No. 239 (4-stars): Linebacker Kenney Britt, Oxford (Ala.).

Moultry and Britt were the biggest risers among Tiger commits. Moultry moved up 32 spots; Britt was not previously in the Top247.

Auburn athlete commit Alaric Williams of Gadsden (Ala.) Southside dropped out of the rankings, but will retain his fourth star.

KN put up a recruiting insider yesterday:

- Markaviest Bryant is top target for Buck spot but if we miss on him look for someone like Moultry or Wooten to move to the Buck. Bryant is visiting LSU this weekend, then AU next weekend. UGA is gonna be hard to beat but we get the last shot at it

- 4* WR Oliver Martin is seeing his recruitment blow up. Both AU & UF feel good about getting an official visit. One reason is both have outstanding swimming programs and his sister is a big time swimmer. They would both like to end up at same school. Apparently Ohio State & Michigan have come calling as well with the Wolverines as a legit contender to steal him away late

- Malzahn & Fountain visited 3* Traivon Leonard

- Hand met with JUCO 3* OT George Moore a day after his offer. The hope is he visits weekend of Jan 27th but not locked in stone. Team to watch is Oregon who just recently hired Mario Cristobal

- Says hearing that AU might pursue a 2nd TE, something to keep in mind

- AU staff plans to visit 4* S Devon Hunter again this week before announcement still not clear if he will officially visit this weekend

Great to hear you are still alive and hopefully back as we hit the home stretch to signing day! I, for one, hope things are going very well for you on and off the field. Stick around (as long as you can stand it here)!

Scout with a MAJOR 5 star development. Any ideas who they are talking about? May not be recruiting. May be about OC search????

Over the past week, Florida and Virginia Tech had emerged as the two top schools for the No. 1 safety Devon Hunter. However, Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn went to see Hunter yesterday and the visit went extremely well. According to very reliable sources, the Tigers are now firmly in the mix to land Hunter. Virginia Tech is still the favorite, but the gap has closed considerably. I've been told he has not made a decision yet.

Gaining Hunter's signature or not, Travis Williams is everything Craig is not.

He will go further, and be more successful over time IMO. Mostly because he is about helping the player, and not his own image. That will take care of itself.

Handing kids who are broke some pocket money now and then, does not a great coach make. He will get someone in trouble eventually.

Fvck DCraig. Claims to love Auburn but does very little to show it. He's all about himself.

Just curious, what specifically do you have a problem with in what DC does?

Well, obviously DCraig is an a-hole because he made a move he thought would better his career.

I don't blame him still. Gus obviously realizes his offense isn't working. Why would DCraig attach himself as a co-conductor of a failing offense?
