KN also had a recruiting insider yesterday. Here's the summary

- 4* LB Leonard Warner is not on AU's radar right now. He was considered an UGA lock but they probably won't have room. We haven't spoken to him to some time and 4* Tyler Taylor appears to be the focus. Could be a name that pops back up late tho depending on what happens in these final weeks

- Some 2018 news, AU is in the top 3 for 2 very good OL in the state of Florida next season: 4* OT William Barnes, NR OG Ed Montilus. They both attend Chandler Cox's high school and have spoken to him about AU. They want to play at the same college (infamous package deal) and are planning on coming to an AU junior day. Barnes has us 3rd right now behind Florida & North Carolina but it's a tight race

- He had 4* S Devon Hunter update before secondary coach was hired. Apparently the feeling now is Ole Miss has become a major threat because of how close Hunter is with McGriff. As of now the Jan 20th visit is still on but we will see how he clicks with Greg Brown

- Looking less likely 3* DE Tyree Johnson will make an official to AU. He and his parents seem pretty happy with Texas A&M but AU still working on it. Pretty sure he would be 3rd on our list behind Bryant & Parks

- For 2019 recruiting fans name to remember is TE Ryland Goede. Already has an AU offer and a top 2 of AU/UGA

- 2018 3* DE Andres Fox says AU is recruiting him the hardest. Already has double digit offers and will probably end up being a top DL recruit in the state. Big kid at 6'5" 230 lbs

- Bo Jackson's nephew 2018 WR Shedrick Jackson had a great Army combine. Mississippi State & Troy have offered with Vandy being close. I think if we push for him we would get him. Really hope we can pull him and Ross in this next cycle. Both are big athletic WRs

- 4* OL Tony Gray named AU in his top 5 but apparently we aren't recruiting him. FWIW Gray looked terrible in Under Armour practice. Tucker looks like the better prospect right now

There was an update on 4* LB Markail Benton as well. He wants to take an OV to UGA & AU but it doesn't sound like anything is in the works. Pretty sure he burned some bridges in his Bama commitment and we like our current guys better. We will see tho...

KN had a Tray Bishop update. We have not spoken to him since he flipped but we have spoken to his parents. There is a chance he might still official. Sounds like there might be a split in the family with some still wanting AU. KN thinks as of now it won't happen but we are still working on getting him back on campus

In-state Alabama commit Markail Benton setting other visits (AL.com)
quote:

When asked if he'd visit anywhere for the weekend of Jan. 27, the last weekend before National Signing Day, Benton said, "possibly Auburn."

Benton cited Alabama's coaching as a reason for committing to the Crimson Tide over nearby Auburn in June.

Benton can Frick off. Can't blame him for wanting to take his officials but I hope AU doesn't spend a dime on hosting him.

Can't remember. I remember hearing that he was talking trash with some of our commitments at some function.

Here's the scumbag
LINK

Seems that I remember hearing that Benton is good friends with Justyn Ross and Henry Ruggs though. Would be worth mending bridges I believe.

here it is:

Benton

He isn't incorrect, Alabama does have better coaches but not exactly what you should say after a school spends so much time and effort recruiting you and allowing you to come to games on their dime. It would be kind of ironic if Alabama parted ways with him last minute after he talked shite everywhere he went like they did that turd that had to sign with Arkansas a few years back.

One thing i love is coaches holding grudges towards 18 yr olds and missing out on good players

247 says Barrett will likely stick as long as Horton is here. Still considering the Clemson OV though

I meant him "talking some shite" about the Auburn coaches which was just him saying that Alabama's coaches were better.

KN has spoken with both Traivon Leonard and Carlito Gonzalez on the Greg Brown hire and both seem pleased. He's working on getting info from rest of DB commits and targets which will be interesting to see. We are selling hard fact that he has coached 3 Thorpe award winners and all his time in the NFL which seems to be going over well at least with those 2.

Will be interesting of course to see what Hunter thinks of the hire...
